PRAGMATA’s Free Mega Man DLC Is Live and the Game Is 20% Off at $42, but the Sale Ends on a Different Day on Every Platform

Capcom’s brand-new IP PRAGMATA just got a free “Mega Man” DLC pack, live as of Thursday, September 17, 2026. It hands you four costumes that dress Hugh and Diana up as Mega Man and Roll, and it costs exactly nothing. At the same time the base game has dropped to 20% off, or about US$42 — a price that disappears before this week is out.

Here’s the annoying part: the sale ends at a different moment on every platform. Steam goes first, at 1:59 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22. PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 hold until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23. Xbox Series X|S hangs on the longest, until 6:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 24. All times are Japan time. If your plan is “I’ll think about it over the weekend,” Steam players are simply not going to make it.

PRAGMATA is sitting on a Metascore of 86 and a 94% positive user rating on Steam, which is an absurd showing for a completely new IP. It moved a million copies worldwide in two days and two million in sixteen. Now that game is at a launch-tier discount of roughly $42, with a free Mega Man crossover bolted on top. Honestly, finding a reason NOT to buy it is the harder job.

But I’m not going to leave it at “it’s cheap, go buy it.” What kind of game is this, who is it going to click with, and who is it going to bounce off? And how should you play the platform-by-platform deadlines? I’ll work through all of that before handing down a verdict.

Let’s start with what’s actually inside the free DLC. For something that costs nothing, Capcom clearly put in way too much effort.

What’s in PRAGMATA’s Mega Man Crossover DLC? All Four Costumes, the BGM and the Emotes

The free “Mega Man” pack contains seven items in total: four extra costumes, one Shelter BGM track and two emotes.

According to Capcom’s official announcement (press release confirmed September 16, 2026), the crossover partner is PRAGMATA’s 40th-anniversary stablemate, the all-new Mega Man: Dual Override. It’s the first new entry in eight years, following Mega Man 11, and it’s due in 2027. In other words, this pack doubles as an opening act for next year’s main event.

Laid out, the contents look like this.

Type Name Applies to
Costume Mega Man Outfit Hugh
Costume Mega Man Mode Hugh
Costume Roll Outfit Diana
Costume Roll Mode Diana
BGM Shelter BGM “Mega Man” Shelter
Emote Mega Buster Diana
Emote Mega Man Arrives Cabin

What’s the Difference Between “Outfit” and “Mode”?

The clever bit is that each character gets two flavors of the same idea. “Mega Man Outfit” and “Roll Outfit” keep Hugh and Diana looking like themselves, just wearing Mega Man and Roll costumes. “Mega Man Mode” and “Roll Mode” swap them over to a deformed, 2D-illustration-style look entirely.

So it covers both camps: people who want the cosplay without breaking the sci-fi fiction, and people who want the whole thing turned into Mega Man. Capcom rarely bothers to split a crossover DLC this carefully, and it shows.

The one that got me was Diana as Roll. That green dress, the braid, and then the dystopian lunar-base atmosphere layered on top — it hits a flavor I can’t quite describe. When a new costume for your favorite character drops out of the sky for free, of course you get excited.

The BGM and Emotes Pay Off in the Shelter

It’s easy to overlook, but the Shelter BGM and the emotes matter more than they look. The Shelter in PRAGMATA is the hub where you upgrade weapons and rest, and you come back to it constantly. Swapping the music that plays there for a Mega Man theme means your ears get a small reward every single trip.

The two emotes, “Mega Buster” and “Mega Man Arrives,” are split between Diana and the Cabin. If you’re a screenshot person, more poses in the drawer is straightforwardly more value.

Worth noting: PRAGMATA also sells a paid “Shelter Variety Pack” (about US$10 on Steam, as of September 2026, store page confirmed). When a bundle of costumes, weapon skins, BGM and emotes goes for ten bucks, handing out seven items from the same category for free is about as generous as it gets.

When Does the PRAGMATA Sale End? Deadlines and Discounted Price by Platform

The 20% off price of roughly US$42 runs until 1:59 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22 on Steam — the earliest cutoff — and until 6:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 24 on Xbox Series X|S, the latest. All deadlines are in Japan time.

The base price is about US$52, and 20% off lands every platform at the same roughly US$42. Same discount, same price, different deadline: a setup that is quietly very easy to get burned by.

Platform Sale ends (Japan time) Sale price
Steam Tuesday, September 22, 1:59 a.m. About US$42
PlayStation 5 Wednesday, September 23, 11:59 p.m. About US$42
Nintendo Switch 2 Wednesday, September 23, 11:59 p.m. About US$42
Xbox Series X|S Thursday, September 24, 6:59 p.m. About US$42

Steam Is the One That Will Bite You

Look at the table and it’s obvious: Steam’s “September 22, 1:59 a.m.” effectively means the sale dies late on the night of Monday, September 21, Japan time. Fall asleep on the last day of the long weekend and you’ll wake up to the full US$52 price. If you’re the type who adds things to a cart and feels satisfied — I am that type — take this one seriously.

Steam is also running the Deluxe Edition at the same 20% off, dropping it from about US$59 to about US$47 (as of September 2026, Steam store page confirmed). That’s roughly $5 over the standard edition. Pick based on how badly you want the extra content, but if you’re genuinely torn, the standard edition is plenty.

Xbox Players Are the Ones Who Can Actually Wait

Only the Xbox Series X|S version survives until 6:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, which means you can watch every trailer and hands-on report from Tokyo Game Show 2026’s public days (September 19 to 21) before deciding. If you’re the cautious sort who wants to see how the show shakes out first, those three extra days matter.

One more thing: the Switch 2 version launched a week after the others, on April 24, yet it holds the highest Metascore of any version at 90. If wandering around the moon in handheld mode sounds good, there’s a real case for that one.

Is PRAGMATA Worth Buying Right Now? Breaking Down That 86 Metascore and 94% Steam Rating

Short answer: yes, buy it. A brand-new IP with a Metascore of 86 and a 94% positive Steam rating is, at this price, about as close to a sure thing as it gets.

PRAGMATA is a sci-fi action adventure that launched April 17, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, and April 24 on Nintendo Switch 2. Investigator Hugh Williams is stranded in an AI-controlled lunar facility alongside an android girl named Diana, and the two of them are trying to get back to Earth. Counting from the prototype stage, Capcom spent roughly six years on it.

One Big Idea: Controlling Two Characters at Once

The core of this game is juggling Hugh’s gunplay and Diana’s hacking on a single controller, simultaneously. You’re firing at an enemy with one hand while solving a puzzle-style hack with the other. Mixing a third-person shooter with a puzzle game is the kind of pitch that gets you funny looks in the meeting room, and Capcom pushed it all the way through. Respect.

That structure is exactly what critics latched onto. Of 87 reviews from outlets, roughly 97% leaned positive, with 38 of them scoring 90 or above. The user score sits at 9.0, making this one of those rare games where critics and players landed in the same place.

Sales backed it up, too. A million copies worldwide in two days, two million in sixteen. Capcom has even talked about turning it into a series. For a new IP, that start is genuinely impressive.

The Caveats, Stated Honestly

I’m not going to pretend it’s flawless. There are specific things about PRAGMATA that will absolutely lose some people.

  • The dual-control load is heavy: shooting while solving is just plain exhausting until it clicks. If you don’t want to think during a fight, this isn’t for you
  • Thinking takes priority over combat tempo: buy this expecting the tactile rush of Resident Evil or Monster Hunter and the direction is going to feel off
  • The Steam version uses Denuvo: if DRM and authentication matter to you, check before you buy (as of September 2026, Steam store page confirmed)
  • The free DLC is cosmetic only: the Mega Man pack adds no new stages and no new weapons

Flip all that around, though, and for anyone who wants the pleasure of solving a puzzle and the pleasure of pulling a trigger at the same time, there is no substitute. I genuinely can’t name another game that feels like this.

And roughly US$42 is an aggressive number for a well-reviewed game only five months old. Capcom discounts fast, sure, but a cut this deep or deeper realistically won’t come around again until the end of the year.

What Can You Get at Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 Booth? Demo Giveaway and Crossover Merch

The Capcom booth has a playable PRAGMATA demo with the Mega Man pack applied, and everyone who plays gets a “PRAGMATA Microfiber Handkerchief” while supplies last.

Tokyo Game Show 2026 runs September 17 (Thursday) to 21 (Monday) at Makuhari Messe. The 17th and 18th are business days; the 19th through the 21st are public days. So the general audience gets three days, starting September 19, to actually play it. Since the giveaway is explicitly limited in quantity, if you want that handkerchief, plan on lining up first thing in the morning.

Crossover Merch Debuts Early in Hall 9

The merchandise gets an early release at the “e-Capcom satellite shop” in Hall 9. Capcom has already published the prices, so here they are in full.

Item Price Notes
Capcom Design T-Shirt: PRAGMATA x Mega Man: Dual Override About US$22 each Two sizes: L and XL
Acrylic Stand About US$14 Approx. 143mm tall
Acrylic Coaster 3-Piece Set About US$11 Approx. 90mm diameter
Pin Badge About US$4 Approx. 56mm diameter
Metallic File About US$5 A4 size
Acrylic Keychain About US$9 Approx. 145mm long
PRAGMATA Clear File 3-Piece Set About US$11 A4 size

If you can’t make it to the show, relax. e-Capcom is taking preorders for the acrylic stand, coasters, pin badge, metallic file, keychain and clear file set, with a scheduled release date of Thursday, January 28, 2027. You don’t have to blow your budget during the show to get this stuff.

Speaking as a former anime shop employee, let me tell you: crossover-exclusive acrylic stands evaporate during the event. If you want one, locking it in through mail order is the correct move. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve waited for stock to show up at an Ikebukuro shop later and regretted it.

The Bottom Line: The Mega Man DLC Is Free, and the Game Is US$42 Until September 22 at 1:59 a.m. at the Earliest

Here are the numbers you need, one more time.

The free “Mega Man” pack went live Thursday, September 17, 2026. It includes seven items: Hugh’s “Mega Man Outfit” and “Mega Man Mode,” Diana’s “Roll Outfit” and “Roll Mode,” the Shelter BGM “Mega Man,” and the emotes “Mega Buster” and “Mega Man Arrives.” The price is zero. It’s available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2.

The base game drops from about US$52 to about US$42 at 20% off. The deadlines, all in Japan time, are Steam at 1:59 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22; PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23; and Xbox Series X|S at 6:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 24. The Steam Deluxe Edition goes from about US$59 to about US$47.

At Tokyo Game Show 2026, Capcom’s booth has a playable build with the Mega Man pack applied, and demo players receive a microfiber handkerchief while supplies last. Public days run September 19 to 21, the crossover merch launches early at the e-Capcom satellite shop in Hall 9, and the e-Capcom online versions are scheduled to ship January 28, 2027.

SPOTGEEKS VERDICT

A completely new IP with a Metascore of 86, a 94% positive Steam rating and two million copies sold in sixteen days is going for about US$42 five months after launch — and a free crossover DLC is riding along with it. There’s almost nothing left to deliberate over. The simultaneous shoot-and-solve control scheme really will lose some players, but nothing else on the market delivers that particular feel right now. If I have to name one thing to watch, it’s that the deadline is different on every platform. Steam is the earliest at 1:59 a.m. on September 22, Japan time, and the moment you doze off on a holiday-weekend night, it snaps back to about US$52.

In a week where you can look at Diana in Roll’s dress for free, there’s no reason to pay full price. Hit buy, not add-to-cart — and yes, I’m talking to myself too.
