Days with My Stepsister is becoming a game. And the genre, of all things, is the work-companion adventure. Original author Ghost Mikawa is handling the scenario and directing production, and the Steam store page went live on October 22, 2026.
Release is set for this winter at US$10 (tax included, converted at roughly 153 yen to the dollar). Saki Ayase is voiced by Yuki Nakajima, the same actress as the TV anime, and the game is fully voiced. The official title is Days with My Stepsister: Days with My Lo-Fi Sister.
The studio behind it is Minstrel, a creative brand under Tailpot Inc., and this is its first release. The structure: you keep a video call open with a 3D Saki while you get on with your own studying or work.
Some of you will brace yourselves at the words “light novel game adaptation.” But this is not the kind of project where you pick dialogue options and branch toward an ending. If anything, it is closer to a tool. That is what makes it interesting.
What do you actually do in the Days with My Stepsister game?
It is a sit-beside-you adventure designed to help you focus on real work. You open a video call with a 3D Saki Ayase, create the state of her studying next to you, and keep your own hands on your own tasks.
The built-in features are a Pomodoro timer, a to-do list, and notes. Music, ambient sound, and the scenery outside the window are all player-selectable. In short, the design here takes the role of a lo-fi study playlist video and seals it, character and all, into a single piece of software.
Stack up enough work time and you unlock the game’s original story. Seasonal events and birthday conversations are in there too. For fans of the original novels, that is a deliciously cruel setup: time with Saki is wired directly to your own productivity.

What do you get for US$10, and where does the music come from?
The price is US$10 (tax included), and the soundtrack pulls from three sources: the lo-fi tracks that have been released on the Days with My Stepsister YouTube channel, CITOCA’s score for the TV anime, and newly produced lo-fi tracks.
On top of that, you can import your own music files and build playlists. That sounds minor, but it matters. The lifespan of work-companion software ultimately comes down to whether you can put your own tracks in it. Lock it to the bundled playlist and you will be bored of launching it within a month.
The source novels are written by Ghost Mikawa with illustrations by Hiten, published under KADOKAWA’s MF Bunko J imprint, and the series has passed 1.3 million copies in circulation. With the author himself doubling as scenario writer and production director, the game’s original story should sit seamlessly alongside the books.
How far does the audio work go?
Ambient sound is captured spatially with Yamaha’s ViReal Mic and played back through Sound xR Core. The sleep-beside mode is recorded binaurally using a KU100 dummy head microphone.
Ambient sound is the first thing that gets cut corners in software like this. Slapping a loop of royalty-free audio in there is enough to call it done. Going out of the way to record it with Yamaha’s spatial audio tech instead presumably comes from designing around the assumption that it will run the entire time you work. If the sound tires your ears over long sessions, it stops getting used no matter how good the art is.
There is a caveat, though. The benefits of spatial audio and binaural recording assume headphones or earbuds. If you play through speakers, most of that selling point never reaches you. Worth checking your setup before you buy.
Will Shiori Yomiuri get DLC? The crowdfunding schedule
A crowdfunding campaign aiming to make additional DLC for Shiori Yomiuri (CV Minori Suzuki) a reality starts on CAMPFIRE at 19:00 on October 27, 2026. The campaign is planned to run 45 days.
Which means Shiori’s addition is not a confirmed thing at this point; it depends on how the support comes in. The preview page is already up, so if Shiori is what you are here for, read through the details before it opens.
Funding a character addition through crowdfunding is the flip side of that US$10 base price. Launch cheap and wide, and let the people who want the extras pay for them. For source material with multiple heroines, I see that as a reasonable place to land.

Days with My Stepsister game adaptation roundup
Days with My Stepsister: Days with My Lo-Fi Sister is a work-companion adventure planned for release on PC (Steam) in winter 2026 at US$10 (tax included). Ghost Mikawa, author of the original novels, handles the scenario and production direction, and Saki Ayase is fully voiced by Yuki Nakajima, the same actress as the TV anime.
A Pomodoro timer and to-dos, lo-fi tracks and Yamaha spatial audio, and an original story unlocked through logged work time. The crowdfunding campaign aiming at Shiori Yomiuri DLC is scheduled to begin at 19:00 on October 27 and run for 45 days.
A light novel game adaptation with a purpose this clearly defined is a rarity. It is not built as a game to play; it is built as a tool to keep working. The fact that you can import your own music, and that the ambient audio was spatially recorded with Yamaha’s tech, are the two things keeping this from being disposable. The US$10 price is right where it should be. Just go in having accepted two things first: the spatial audio pitch assumes headphones, and Shiori’s addition rides on the crowdfunding.
Sit at the desk with your favorite and the pages will finally move. A practical little release for anyone who wants to believe that.
