Apex Legends x Street Fighter 6: All 8 Crossover Skins, How Apex K.O. Works, and the Event Dates

The Apex Legends x Street Fighter 6 crossover goes live on September 22, 2026 (2:00 a.m. JST on September 23). The headline items are eight fighter skins spread across eight Legends and a limited-time mode called Apex K.O. that swaps the camera to third person. The event runs from September 22 to October 13 local time, roughly three weeks.

Honestly? My first reaction to the trailer was “here comes another skin-selling crossover.” Then I read what the mode actually does and flipped completely. Hadokens. Flying across Olympus.

Mixing a fighting game into a battle royale isn’t a new idea. But Respawn Entertainment didn’t stop at handing out skins this time. They changed the camera. You collect tokens, fill a gauge, trigger Fighter Form, and the view snaps around behind your shoulder. The FPS becomes a third-person brawler. That alone is worth logging in for.

This piece breaks down the event window, all eight skin pairings, the rules of Apex K.O., what’s changed on the remixed Olympus, and how you actually get the items. I’ll cover the rough edges too, not just the highlights: the pricing question and what didn’t make it in. Everything here is based on information published as of September 2026.

When Does the Apex x Street Fighter 6 Event Start and End?

The crossover runs from September 22 to October 13, 2026 local time, which means a 2:00 a.m. JST start on September 23. That’s a three-week limited window.

Three weeks is the standard length for an Apex crossover, and this one fits the mold exactly. The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth event that kicked off on January 10, 2024 ran the same three weeks. In other words, treat this as the kind of event people panic about only after it’s over.

Mythic-tier rewards in particular are hard to sprint to at the last minute. Apex reward-shop events are built so currency accrues with playtime, not with a single big session. Start grinding in week one.

I’m the person who noticed the last crossover on its final day and cried about it, so this time the dates are pinned to my Steam Deck home screen. Learned my lesson. Sort of.

All 8 Crossover Skins: Which Legend Gets Which Fighter?

Eight crossover skins ship with the event. Sparrow becomes Ryu, Alter becomes Chun-Li, and so on down the list, with each fighter matched to a Legend’s build and silhouette.

Legend Fighter Notes
Sparrow Ryu The face of the crossover. Classic gi and headband
Alter Chun-Li Qipao and ox horn buns, faithfully recreated
Bangalore Elena A capoeira fighter on Apex’s tallest frame
Mirage Luke Two smack-talkers, perfectly matched
Gibraltar Akuma The closest physical match of the whole set
Wattson Cammy Casting that plays to a compact silhouette
Caustic Blanka Gas man meets feral beast, the wild card pick
Pathfinder Dhalsim Chosen for the one thing they share: stretchy limbs

Look closely and this isn’t just a grab bag of popular characters. Pathfinder x Dhalsim was reverse-engineered from a shared mechanic, the extending arms, and Gibraltar x Akuma works because the sheer bulk lines up. Speaking as a former otaku shop clerk, casting with a reason behind it always moves more merch than casting by popularity alone.

That said, big names like Zangief and Guile didn’t make the cut. Capcom’s roster is far from exhausted here, which leaves plenty of room for a second wave.

Eight Weapon Skins Land Alongside Them

It isn’t just Legend skins. Eight Street Fighter 6-themed Legendary weapon skins arrive as well, covering the R-99, EVA-8, Flatline, Volt, G7 Scout, Mozambique, Devotion, and Peacekeeper.

On top of that, you get two skydive emotes plus holosprays, stickers, badges, trackers, and frames. In terms of sheer volume, this ranks among the deepest Apex crossover lineups in recent memory.

What Is Apex K.O.? Fighter Form and the Mode’s Rules Explained

Apex K.O. is a limited-time battle royale where you collect tokens scattered around the map, fill a Fight Gauge, and transform into a Street Fighter character. While transformed, the camera shifts to third person.

At the start of a match, you pick one of four styles: Ryu, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, or Akuma. That choice determines exactly how your Fighter Form plays once it’s active.

Collect tokens scattered across the map to fill your Fight Gauge and activate Fighter Form. Doing so switches you to a third-person camera and grants a new tactical ability and ultimate, an enhanced melee attack, a block, extra damage resistance, and a movement speed bonus.

The clever part is that the gauge drains while you’re transformed, but lands hits with your abilities and it refills. You can’t run away and coast in Fighter Form; the more aggressively you fight, the longer you stay transformed. It’s a battle royale that rewards pushing forward, which is fighting-game risk design through and through.

Ryu’s Hadoken and Akuma’s Raging Demon come through intact, too. A battle royale where projectiles arrive from across the map is, when you stop and think about it, completely unhinged.

Showdown: The Final Round Transforms Everyone

Late in the match, the game shifts into a phase called Showdown. The gauge goes unlimited, and every remaining player fights permanently in Fighter Form with abilities on tap.

Squads slug it out until only one is standing, so the endgame turns into a full-blown fighting game scramble. Dropping the guns and settling it with fists is the kind of shameless move only a crossover can pull off, and it rules.

What’s Different About the Remixed Olympus?

Olympus hosts the mode, remixed into Street Fighter 6 dress: red and blue color blocks, a giant inflatable Blanka, and arcade cabinets dotted around the map.

The clearest change is that the existing Fight Night area becomes Luke’s Gym. Inside that ring, players can hold Fighter Form and use abilities without limit. In effect, there’s a permanent fighting stage sitting on the map.

There are also special vehicles called Punch Trucks parked around Olympus. They’re bulletproof, so guns do nothing. Punch one and it drops tokens; destroy it and you get an Evo orb. A map that pushes you toward “don’t shoot, punch” is a genuinely fun bit of design.

A Mythic universal melee weapon, the Hadoken, is in the mix as well, complete with custom voice lines and a trailing ki effect. The matching death box changes to suit it.

How Much Do the Skins Cost? Every Way to Get Them

Straight answer: the Apex Coins price for each skin has not been announced as of this writing. EA has detailed how you obtain the items, but not what they’ll cost.

There are two officially confirmed routes. One is buying from the event store; the other is the reward shop, where you spend Zenny earned simply by playing.

Source What’s Available Cost
Event store Crossover Legend skins and weapon skins Unannounced as of this writing
Zenny reward shop Legendary weapon skins, Epic skins, skydive emotes, holosprays, stickers, badges Earned through play (free)
Mythic melee “Hadoken” Universal melee plus a custom death box Collection completion reward (threshold unannounced)

What matters here is that the Zenny reward shop hands you a meaningful pile of items without spending a cent. Legendary weapon skins and Epic skins are in that pool, so free-to-play players won’t walk away empty-handed.

The flip side: completing all eight Legend skins will likely cost real money. Apex collection events traditionally unlock the Mythic once you own every item, and past editions have run into the hundreds of dollars. Waiting for the price reveal before committing is the safer call.

When I start doing math on how much I feed the Street Fighter 6 cabinets in Ikebukuro every month and thinking “skins aren’t that bad by comparison,” that’s the warning sign. I know. I know.

How Does It Compare to Past Apex Crossovers? The Good and the Rough

Apex has done this before, most notably with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. That event, which began January 10, 2024, added source-material gear like the Buster Sword R2R5 and the Materia hop-up, wrapped in a three-week limited-time mode.

The FF7 crossover’s approach was to drop items from another game into a battle royale. This one swaps out the camera and your character’s entire kit. In terms of how far it’s willing to go, this is a clear step up.

The Good

  • A structural change, FPS to third person, rather than a skin drop with a mode attached
  • The Zenny reward shop guarantees free-to-play players a real haul
  • Fighting-game ideas are baked into the map itself via Luke’s Gym and the Punch Trucks
  • Legend-to-fighter casting is justified by body type and ability, not just popularity

The Rough

  • Pricing is unannounced, so the cost of a full collection is anyone’s guess
  • Only four playable styles: Ryu, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, and Akuma
  • Fan favorites like Zangief and Guile are absent this time
  • It’s a three-week window, and the items likely won’t return on the same terms

The four-style limit stings the most when there are eight skins on offer. Being able to play as all eight would have been perfect. Then again, balancing eight fighting-game kits inside a battle royale is a nightmare, so narrowing it to four was the pragmatic choice.

Wrap-Up: The Apex x Street Fighter 6 Crossover Runs September 22 to October 13

The Apex Legends x Street Fighter 6 crossover opens September 22, 2026 local time (2:00 a.m. JST on September 23) and ends October 13, a roughly three-week limited event.

The package includes eight Legend skins (Sparrow as Ryu, Alter as Chun-Li, Bangalore as Elena, Mirage as Luke, Gibraltar as Akuma, Wattson as Cammy, Caustic as Blanka, and Pathfinder as Dhalsim), eight Street Fighter 6-themed weapon skins, the Mythic universal melee Hadoken, and the limited-time Apex K.O. mode.

In Apex K.O. you gather tokens, fill the Fight Gauge, and transform into a third-person Fighter Form. During the final Showdown round, everyone fights with an unlimited gauge. It all plays out on an Olympus remixed in Street Fighter 6 style.

Skin pricing is unannounced as of this writing. But the Zenny reward shop still gets free-to-play players Legendary weapon skins and more, so there’s no rush to open your wallet before the numbers are public.

SPOTGEEKS VERDICT

This is not a crossover that ends at a skin drop. The camera flips to third person, projectiles fly across the map, and there are trucks driving around built to be punched. Only a handful of events in Apex history have reworked the actual play experience this thoroughly. Four playable styles and the missing price tag are real marks against it, but playing the mode costs nothing. There’s no reason not to try it.

September 22, I’m going straight for a Punch Truck. The wallet conversation can wait.
