WAVE has announced two Armored Trooper VOTOMS model kits at the same time: a brand-new Fatty [ST Version] kit, and a reissue of the Berserga DT [PS Version] that hasn’t been on shelves in nine years.
The headline here is unquestionably the Fatty. This is its very first release as an injection-molded kit. It’s 1/35 scale, stands roughly 12cm tall, costs 5,280 yen including tax (about US$35; converted at 153 yen = US$1), and is slated for February 2027.
The Berserga DT [PS Version], meanwhile, runs 6,380 yen including tax (about US$42) and arrives in January 2027. It includes the signature crouching mechanism, and you can stash a Fiana figure inside the machine itself. The moment I read the words “first reissue in nine years,” I made an audible noise.
I’ve been following VOTOMS kits for a long time. As someone who fully paints but never kitbashes, I appreciate that AT kits let me predict exactly how much paint I’m going to burn through. Let’s take these one at a time.
When does Fatty [ST Version] release? Price and specs
Fatty [ST Version] is scheduled for February 2027 at 5,280 yen including tax (about US$35). It’s 1/35 scale and stands about 12cm tall.
The biggest deal is that this is the first time the design has been produced as an injection-molded kit. The Fatty has existed in model form before, mostly as resin kits, but it has never been offered as a styrene, injection-molded plastic model until now.
| Item | Fatty [ST Version] |
|---|---|
| Manufacturer | WAVE |
| Scale | 1/35 |
| Height | Approx. 12cm |
| Price | 5,280 yen including tax (about US$35) |
| Release window | February 2027 |
| Notable | First time released as an injection kit |
Unlike mass-production AT hero machines such as the Scopedog, the Fatty’s appeal is its squat, heavily armored silhouette. At 1/35 with a 12cm height, all that extra width means it should have serious presence on a display shelf.
When is the Berserga DT [PS Version] reissue? Price and gimmicks
Berserga DT [PS Version] is scheduled for January 2027 at 6,380 yen including tax (about US$42). It’s the kit’s first reissue in a full nine years.
On the gimmick front, it has the crouching mechanism. That means you can reproduce the posture shift that practically defines an AT, right in the kit. On top of that, a Fiana figure can be housed inside the machine.
That nine-year gap carries weight. You might spot this kit on the secondhand market now and then, but there was simply no way to buy one new at retail. For anyone who let it slip by the first time, this is a clean do-over.
…Of course, when a guy on his second divorce says “this time I’ll actually build it instead of adding it to the stash,” nobody believes him.
What does a double announcement mean? Which one should you buy?
I’ll start with the verdict. If you’re only picking up one VOTOMS kit, make it the first-ever Fatty [ST Version]. Reissues come around again; a brand-new kit’s first run gives you no guarantee of when, or if, you’ll get another shot.
The price gap is 1,100 yen (about US$7). The Fatty is 5,280 yen, the Berserga DT is 6,380 yen, both including tax. Release dates are a month apart, with the Berserga DT in January 2027 and the Fatty in February 2027. If you want both, you’re looking at two straight months of spending.
In sheer feature count, the Berserga DT wins. The crouching mechanism and the Fiana storage cover exactly what fans expect from a VOTOMS kit. If you want something to play with rather than just stare at, that’s the one I’d push.
How the two look to a paint-everything builder
I paint everything and modify nothing. From that angle, the Fatty is the more rewarding paint job. Those broad slabs of heavy armor make gradients pop, and they give you plenty of surface to load up with weathering detail.
The Berserga DT, on the other hand, has articulation and gimmicks, which means you have to baby it after painting. Every time you put it into the crouch, there’s somewhere the paint film is going to rub. That’s less a matter of taste than of what you’re building the thing for.
Honestly, the odds of spotting a VOTOMS kit on an Akihabara shelf have been dropping year after year. The fact that WAVE announced two of them at once was, for me, flat-out good news.

WAVE’s two Armored Trooper VOTOMS kits: everything we know
Let’s lay it all out again. WAVE has announced two Armored Trooper VOTOMS model kits. Fatty [ST Version] is the design’s first injection-molded kit: 1/35 scale, roughly 12cm tall, 5,280 yen including tax (about US$35), scheduled for February 2027.
Berserga DT [PS Version] is a reissue nine years in the making, at 6,380 yen including tax (about US$42), scheduled for January 2027. It features the crouching mechanism and can store a Fiana figure inside the machine. Prices and release windows are based on official announcements as of October 2026.
The Fatty’s debut as an injection kit fills a plain, obvious gap in VOTOMS model history. Scopedog variants have been reissued over and over, while machines like this one stayed out of reach for years. And 5,280 yen is a fair ask for an all-new 1/35 kit. The Berserga DT’s return after nine years is just as welcome, and 6,380 yen is reasonable once you account for the everything-included package of a crouching mechanism plus Fiana storage. My one reservation is that January and February 2027 are still a long way off. The only thing that worries me is whether the excitement survives the wait.
A first release only happens once. Lock in the Fatty.
