There are two release dates. That is the part of this latest Atlus announcement that snagged hardest.

On October 23, 2026, Atlus released new details on Persona 4 Revival. It launches on February 18, 2027. The Nintendo Switch 2 version alone, however, arrives on May 20, 2027, three months behind every other platform. This is not a simultaneous release.

Revealed at the same time were the Velvet Room and the three characters tied to it, plus an in-store hands-on tour hitting six venues across five Japanese cities. The tour starts on November 14. That means there are chances to play the opening hours without waiting for launch, spread from the end of this year into the start of the next.

This article breaks down the gap between platform release dates, what you can actually do in the Velvet Room, the full schedule and venue list for the hands-on tour, and the Persona Quiz that runs for just two days from October 31. Every figure here comes from Atlus’ official announcements.

When does Persona 4 Revival launch? The Switch 2 version is three months behind

Persona 4 Revival launches on February 18, 2027. The Nintendo Switch 2 version alone lands on May 20, 2027, a gap of roughly three months.

Platform Release date
PlayStation 5 February 18, 2027
Xbox Series X|S / Xbox Game Pass February 18, 2027
Windows / Steam February 18, 2027
Nintendo Switch 2 May 20, 2027

The game info page on the official site lists the supported platforms as Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. The genre is listed as RPG and the CERO rating as B (ages 12 and up). The fact that this is a title that hits Xbox Game Pass on day one is not a detail you can ignore when you are thinking about cost, either.

So why is the Switch 2 version the only one running late? As of October 2026, Atlus has given no explanation. Whether it comes down to porting logistics or a sales strategy has not been addressed officially either. The only confirmed fact is that the dates differ. For anyone who wants to play this series on a handheld, those three months land heavier than they look.

What can you do in the Velvet Room? The roles of Igor, Margaret, and Marie

The Velvet Room is a special space the protagonist visits, and it serves as the base for Persona fusion, where Personas are combined to create new ones.

Character Japanese VA Role
Igor Bin Shimada Master of the Velvet Room. He welcomes those who have fulfilled the contract as guests and lends a hand to their fate
Margaret Sayaka Ohara A resident who attends to Igor. She supports the protagonist with the Persona Compendium in hand
Marie Kana Hanazawa A mysterious girl encountered in Inaba. Standoffish on the surface but bursting with curiosity. She sells Skill Cards

Fusion lets you pass skills down, and once in a while it produces a fusion accident that spits out a Persona you never intended. On top of that, fusing while meeting certain conditions triggers a Fusion Forecast that grants powerful skills or stat boosts, and the conditions and effects can be checked in advance. Marie sells Skill Cards that teach a Persona a specific skill. Once you have obtained a card, it gets registered to her lineup and can be bought again at any time.

The line worth zeroing in on here is the one about the Fusion Forecast conditions and effects being viewable in advance. In the original, plenty of people had nothing to go on but “there’s a forecast today” and reset over and over because of it. If you can simply check, that whole chore vanishes. The biggest change in a remake is usually a quiet bit of plumbing exactly like this.

Where are the in-store hands-on events held? The full six-venue schedule

The Persona 4 Revival in-store hands-on tour runs from November 14 to December 13, 2026, at six Yodobashi Camera and Bic Camera stores around Japan. Admission is free.

Date Venue Hours
Saturday, November 14 / Miyagi Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Sendai, 2F special venue 11:00-18:00
Sunday, November 15 / Tokyo Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Ikebukuro, 5F game section 11:00-18:00
Saturday, November 21 / Tokyo Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Akiba, Entrance 1 10:00-18:00
Saturday, November 28 / Aichi Bic Camera Nagoya Station West, 1F special venue 11:00-18:00
Sunday, November 29 / Osaka Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Umeda, B2 Yodobashi Hall 11:00-18:00
Sunday, December 13 / Fukuoka Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Hakata, B1 event space 11:00-18:00

Pick one of two demo modes

There are two demos on offer and you get to choose whichever you prefer. The story-focused demo covers the opening of the narrative and lets you explore the uncanny shopping district, while the dungeon-focused demo puts you in Yukiko’s Castle for dungeon crawling and combat. According to the official announcement, the content is identical to what was shown at Tokyo Game Show 2026.

The demos require a numbered ticket, handed out from each store’s opening time. One per person, and no reissues. The notice also states that distribution may start earlier, or switch to free-for-all play, depending on how crowded things get. Miss the play time printed on your ticket and it can be voided, so managing the clock is on you.

Demo rewards and a greeting session

Everyone who plays a demo gets a P4R bottle holder and a large P4R and Metaphor shopper bag. These are the same items that were handed out on the floor at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Pre-order in store after playing and you also pick up a promotional B2 poster.

On top of that, the November 21 date at Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Akiba and the November 29 date at Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Umeda include a greeting session with Teddie. The notes say his appearances are random, so if you absolutely have to meet him, prepare to hang around a while.

What is the Persona Quiz? Two days only, from noon on October 31

The Persona Quiz is a free online quiz marking the series’ 30th anniversary, running from 12:00 on October 31, 2026, to 18:00 on November 1, 2026.

Fifty questions are drawn at random from a pool of 100, and you can take it as many times as you like during the window. The scope spans Revelations: Persona through Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5: The Phantom X, and Persona 4 Revival. In other words, information already revealed about the new game is fair game too, which rewards anyone who has been following the announcements. The whole thing effectively only runs for two days.

In summary: file this one away as a game with two dates

Persona 4 Revival launches on February 18, 2027, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version alone on May 20, 2027. It is rated CERO B (ages 12 and up) and it is coming to Xbox Game Pass. As of October 2026 there is no official explanation for the Switch 2 version’s delay.

The in-store hands-on tour covers six venues, from Sendai on November 14 to Hakata on December 13, with free admission and a numbered-ticket system. The demos split into story-focused and dungeon-focused, the rewards are a bottle holder and a large shopper bag, and anyone who pre-orders gets a promotional B2 poster. The Persona Quiz runs from 12:00 on October 31 to 18:00 on November 1.

SPOTGEEKS VERDICT

The part of this announcement that genuinely lands is the detail on the Velvet Room. That single change, being able to check the Fusion Forecast conditions and effects ahead of time, turns the experience into something else entirely for everyone who reset on loop in the original. Splitting the release into two dates is a shame, but the February 18 crowd gets to try the opening hours at a hands-on event before committing to a pre-order. There is more than enough to go on.

Wait for Switch 2, or dive in first in February. How you read those three months decides the answer.
