The TV anime Kizuguchi to Houtai has a premiere date, January 9, 2027, and the leads have been announced: Hisako Kanemoto as protagonist Riyo Washizu and Chikahiro Kobayashi as Tsuyoshi Kiriya, the family’s wakagashira. It airs Saturdays at 26:00 (2:00 a.m.) in the ANiMAZiNG!!! block on ABC TV and the TV Asahi national network, gets an early broadcast on AT-X at 23:00, and streams first on ABEMA at 26:30.
The announcement came alongside the first teaser PV, built around the theme of “love,” and the first theme visual. Four PVs are planned, one a week. Miyuki Ishida is directing, Susumu Yamakawa is writing the scripts, Natsuki Oyama is handling character designs, and J.C.STAFF is producing the animation. The source manga by Kaisei Nanai is still running on Kodansha’s Getsumaga Kichi, with five volumes out so far.
This article lays out the broadcast slot and streaming, the cast and staff, what the series is actually about, what to watch for in the PV, and why the manga is worth reading. I covered the initial anime announcement in an earlier article, so this time I’m sticking to when, who and how.
- The full list of air dates, channels and streaming
- Hisako Kanemoto, Chikahiro Kobayashi and the staff lineup
- What a “Yowarer” is, and how the boss’s daughter and the wakagashira fit together
- The teaser PV themed on “love,” with four landing on consecutive weeks
- What makes the manga worth reading, and how many volumes are out
Let’s start with the broadcast slot.
When does the Kizuguchi to Houtai anime start? Channels and streaming
The series premieres on January 9, 2027. It runs every Saturday at 26:00 (2:00 a.m.) in the ANiMAZiNG!!! block on ABC TV and the TV Asahi national network. AT-X carries an early broadcast the same day at 23:00, and ABEMA has the first stream at 26:30. AT-X repeats run every Tuesday at 29:00 and every Saturday at 8:00.
| Broadcast / streaming | Date and time |

| ABC TV and TV Asahi national network, ANiMAZiNG!!! | Saturdays from 26:00, starting January 9, 2027 |
| AT-X (early broadcast) | Saturdays from 23:00, starting January 9, 2027 |
| AT-X repeats | Tuesdays from 29:00, Saturdays from 8:00 |

ANiMAZiNG!!! is a late-night block carried nationwide, which means viewers outside the big cities can watch it over the air. ABEMA has the earliest stream, and as of October 2026 the official site lists no other streaming services.
Who’s in the cast and on staff? Hisako Kanemoto, Chikahiro Kobayashi and J.C.STAFF
Hisako Kanemoto voices Riyo Washizu and Chikahiro Kobayashi voices Tsuyoshi Kiriya. Miyuki Ishida directs, Susumu Yamakawa writes the scripts, Natsuki Oyama handles character designs, and J.C.STAFF produces the animation.
| Role / job | Name |
|---|---|
| Riyo Washizu | Hisako Kanemoto |
| Tsuyoshi Kiriya | Chikahiro Kobayashi |
| Original manga | Kaisei Nanai (Kodansha, Getsumaga Kichi) |
| Director | Miyuki Ishida |
| Script | Susumu Yamakawa |
| Character design | Natsuki Oyama |
| Animation production | J.C.STAFF |
Comments from both actors went out with the casting announcement. Here’s how Hisako Kanemoto described Riyo.
There are honestly so many things to love about this work, but the characters’ expressions are wonderful, sometimes cute and sometimes perfectly odd, and I went in hoping I could convey those vivid inner lives through my voice too!

Chikahiro Kobayashi says his recording sessions are in the morning, and that shouting at the top of his lungs leaves him energized for the rest of the day. That’s the flip side of a wakagashira role with a lot of raised voices, and it tells you plenty about how much Kiriya gets jerked around by Riyo.
What is Kizuguchi to Houtai about? A “Yowarer” boss’s daughter and her wakagashira
Kizuguchi to Houtai is a romantic comedy built around Riyo, daughter of the boss of the Washizu-gumi, a yakuza family that rules the Kanto region, and Kiriya, the family’s wakagashira. Riyo has a very particular kink: she gets excited by the sight of strong people being brought low. The series has a word for it, Yowarer. Kiriya, assigned to look after her, gets dragged along by that kink as the two of them grow closer.
The title, which means wound and bandage, maps directly onto their relationship: Kiriya takes the wounds, Riyo wraps them. The official tagline bills it as “boss’s daughter x wakagashira, a forbidden rom-com of unusual kinks.” Since the whole structure turns a kink into comedy, everything rides on how much Riyo’s expressions and Kiriya’s reactions move on screen.
I think the real tell is that Kanemoto’s comment touches on “awkwardness.” This is a series less about the kink itself than about how the two people carrying it face each other, which puts the weight squarely on J.C.STAFF’s facial acting.
What should you watch for in the teaser PV? The theme is “love,” with four weeks in a row
The first teaser PV takes “love” as its theme. It animates well-known scenes from the manga and shows the relationship between Kiriya, who takes the wounds, and Riyo, who wraps them. The first theme visual puts the two of them standing side by side. Four PVs are planned on consecutive weeks, each with a different theme, showing off one facet of the series at a time.
Releasing four weeks in a row is surely a way to keep the conversation going while there are still nearly three months until the premiere. If the first one is “love,” the fun will be seeing how far the remaining three push the comedy side of the kink. I’m a sucker for a staggered rollout like this. I’ll end up checking in every week.
Why read the manga? Running on Kodansha’s Getsumaga Kichi, five volumes out
The source manga is by Kaisei Nanai and runs every other Monday on Kodansha’s Getsumaga Kichi (Comic DAYS). Five collected volumes are on sale. If you want to read it before the January 2027 premiere, five volumes is a very manageable amount to catch up on.
The one thing the anime changes is how much of the kink it can put on broadcast TV. How much of the manga’s range of expression can a late-night slot reproduce? Read the manga before the premiere and you’ll be able to see exactly where they drew the line, which makes it twice as fun.

A series that converts a kink into a rom-com, in a nationwide late-night slot, performed by Hisako Kanemoto and Chikahiro Kobayashi. Both cast comments land on “expressions” and “volume,” and that’s because that’s where this show’s acting lives. Across four weekly PVs, I want to see how much of that makes it onto the screen.
The premiere is January 9, 2027. That’s just the right amount of time to read five volumes while you wait.
