Any one of these would have been enough news on its own. Instead, four landed at once. On November 3, 2026 at 21:30, on stage at Pia Arena MM during Girls Band Cry Special LIVE Akairo no Kyosai, the franchise laid out its entire 2027.
Togenashi Togeari’s biggest-ever headline show at K Arena Yokohama. A release date and teaser trailer for the movie. Pre-registration opening for a smartphone game. And a stage play. Line the dates up and you get a concert on March 20, 2027, the play starting the very next day on the 21st, and the film on May 21 – spring through early summer belongs to this series.
The concert and the play in particular sit back to back in Yokohama and Ikebukuro, and both the earliest lottery and the official advance sale are already in motion. Whoever hears about it first gets the seat first.
We have broken down all four announcements, down to dates, venues, prices and application windows. By the time you finish reading, you should know where to start.
All of it is official information announced at the November 3, 2026 concert. The earliest application window belongs to the stage play’s official advance sale, which opened at 19:00 on November 4.
*Prices in this article are converted from Japanese yen at ¥153 = US$1 (November 2026 rate).
When is Togenashi Togeari’s K Arena Yokohama show? March 20, 2027
Togenashi Togeari’s headline concert takes place on Saturday, March 20, 2027 at K Arena Yokohama. It is titled Rinne no Kagayaki.
This will be the largest-capacity solo show the band has ever played, bigger than the Nippon Budokan date they sold out last year in front of more than 12,000 people. A newly drawn key visual by character designer nari Teshima was released alongside the announcement.
As far as domestic headline shows go, it is the band’s first in roughly 11 months, following the Tokyo Garden Theater date on Friday, May 1, 2026 for TOUR 2026 FINAL Hakudo no Mirai -ENCORE-. All that pent-up thirst looks set to break loose at once inside a 27,000-capacity arena in Yokohama.
Application slips for the earliest lottery are packed inside each Blu-ray and DVD edition of Togenashi Togeari LIVE in Nippon Budokan Sogeki no Sakebi, which goes on sale Wednesday, November 4. In other words, if you want to move first, you start by buying the disc.
As a strategy for an anime-born band, that is remarkably by the book. Turn the Budokan milestone into a disc, then make that disc the ticket to the next arena. Rather than leaning entirely on a fan club lottery, priority goes to the people who bought the work itself.
When does Girls Band Cry THE MOVIE open? May 21, 2027
Girls Band Cry THE MOVIE opens on Friday, May 21, 2027. Toei is distributing.
A teaser trailer and a newly drawn teaser visual by nari Teshima dropped at the same time. The tagline is “Throw it all in – the anger, the joy, the sadness.” The film itself was confirmed back on September 24, 2025, but this is the first time a release date has been locked in.
The teaser opens with Nina Iseri shouting “Contrarians of Japan Nationwide Tour (working title)! Let’s gooo!” and rolls into shots of Togenashi Togeari driving from town to town. The words “Togenashi Togeari Nationwide Tour!?” appear on screen, but that is a line inside the teaser, not an announcement that an actual tour is happening. Worth keeping straight.
Movie cast and staff
| Character | Cast |
|---|---|
| Nina Iseri | Rina |
| Momoka Kawaragi | Yuri |
| Subaru Awa | Miryu |
| Tomo Ebizuka | Natsu |
| Rupa | Suzuka |
| Hina | Rena Kondo |
| Nana | Misato Matsuoka |
| Rin | Yuki Urushiyama |
| Ai | Momoko Miyashiro |
On staff: original work by Toei Animation, directed by Kazuo Sakai, written by Jukki Hanada, with Kenji Tamai (agehasprings) as music producer, Yusuke Tanaka (agehasprings) on score, nari Teshima on character design, and Jaehoon Jung and Daiki Nakazawa as CG directors. That is the core of the TV series lined up unchanged.
When do Muvichike advance tickets go on sale? November 6 at 18:00
The first wave of Muvichike advance tickets (card type) goes on sale Friday, November 6, 2026 at 18:00, priced at $12 (tax included).
Sales are limited-quantity and online only, through MOVIE WALKER STORE and the Animate online shop. Each one comes with a mini acrylic stand featuring the teaser visual (one design). With “limited quantity” attached, this first wave half a year before release is unlikely to be the hardest batch to grab.
What is the game Girls Band Cry First Riff? Pre-registration is live
Pre-registration for the smartphone game Girls Band Cry First Riff opened on November 3, 2026. As of November 2026, there has been no official announcement of a release date.
It is co-developed by DONUTS and Toei Animation for iOS and Android, billed as “a girls rock RPG that climbs from the street to the arena.” The official site relaunched alongside the announcement.
A newly drawn key visual by nari Teshima and the first trailer are both out. The track playing in the trailer is the game’s theme song performed by Togenashi Togeari, Mukidashi no Kyomei. Writing a brand-new song exclusively for the game tells you how seriously the music side is being handled.
Alongside Togenashi Togeari’s five members, the game features original bands and characters created for it. The structure rests on two pillars: a full-fledged story and fully 3D live performance gameplay. In short, there is now one more place to go while waiting for more anime.
More details are coming during the fourth Garurifu official livestream, streaming on YouTube from 19:00 on November 7. Whether the release date shows up there is the thing to watch.
When does the Girls Band Cry stage play run? 11 performances with Momoka as the lead
The Girls Band Cry stage play runs from Sunday, March 21 through Sunday, March 28, 2027 at Sunshine Theatre in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, for a total of 11 performances.
Its biggest hook is the structure. Episodes 1 through 8 of the anime are rebuilt with Momoka Kawaragi as the protagonist. The TV series told its story through Nina Iseri’s eyes, so this is the same run of events seen from Momoka’s side. On top of that, a stage-original character appears: Nozomi Hinata, a coworker from Momoka’s part-time job.
Hideyuki Nishimori, who is writing and directing, put it this way in a comment published by Stage Natalie.
I rewatched the anime over and over, lost my mind at Budokan, visited the exhibition, and then talked with Hanada about how to deliver this work in a way only the stage can. What we decided was to build a story on the same axis as the anime, with Momoka as the protagonist, told from Momoka’s point of view. While treating the moments that hit hardest in the original with care, we are depicting the journey of Momoka’s heart that the anime never told.

That phrase – “the journey of Momoka’s heart that the anime never told” – does a lot of work. Momoka meets Nina still carrying the wreckage of a previous band, and the TV series only shows fragments of that blank period. Building a play as the story that fills in the gap makes it function as a supplement to the original rather than a straight restaging. This is designed not to be a rerun.
Stage play cast and staff
| Role | Cast |
|---|---|
| Momoka Kawaragi | Kanon Nanaki |
| Nina Iseri | Kurumi Takase |
| Subaru Awa | Ruka Nemoto (Aioke) |
| Tomo Ebizuka | Nagisa Hayakawa |
| Rupa | Yuria Sato |
| Hina | Tomi |
| Nana | Karin Mizuno |
| Rin | Mia Ueno |
| Ai | Airi Saito |
| Nozomi Hinata (stage original) | Hikaru Ikuta |
| Hayashi, live house manager | Hiroaki Hirata (same role as in the TV anime) |
The name to note is Hiroaki Hirata. He plays Hayashi, the live house manager he voiced in the TV anime, on stage as well. Voice actors reprising their anime roles on stage is nothing unusual in the 2.5D world, but sharing the “adult anchor” rather than a lead role with the anime matters a lot for preserving the atmosphere of the work.
On staff: original work, planning and production by Toei Animation, with Kazuo Sakai, Jukki Hanada and Satoshi Hirayama (Toei Animation) supervising. Music comes from Kenji Tamai and agehasprings, Hideyuki Nishimori writes and directs, and Kenichiro Kubo (DDR) is stage manager. With the anime’s own staff on supervision duty, continuity should be in safe hands.
How much are stage play tickets, and when does the advance sale close?
The official advance sale runs from 19:00 on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 until 23:59 on Sunday, December 20. There are three ticket types.
| Seat Type | Price | Details |
|---|---|---|
| SS seat | $163 | Guaranteed rows 3-5, newly drawn nari Teshima acrylic panel, replica script, bromide set with replica cast autographs and newly drawn illustrations (all 10 types) |
| S seat | $85 | Guaranteed rows 6-13, newly drawn nari Teshima A4 clear file |
| A seat | $64 | No bonus items |
One crucial caveat: for this run, row 3 is the front row, because rows 1 and 2 are not used. That means the SS seat’s “guaranteed rows 3-5” is effectively the first three rows in the house. Without knowing that, it would be easy to misread this as “$163 for row 3? Steep.” Worth getting straight up front.
The gap between the $64 A seat and the $163 SS seat is $99. Factoring in the sheer volume of goods – acrylic panel, replica script and 10 bromides – that is a fair line as a bundled price. If what you actually want is a guaranteed seating range, though, the $85 S seat is the realistic landing spot.
After-talk event dates and guests
Four after-talk events will be held during the run. The guests change each time, so you pick your date based on your favorite.
| Date | Guests |
|---|---|
| Monday, March 22 (holiday), evening | Rina, Yuri, Suzuka, Kanon Nanaki, Kurumi Takase, Ruka Nemoto |
| Thursday, March 25, evening | Rena Kondo, Misato Matsuoka, Yuki Urushiyama, Momoko Miyashiro, Tomi, Karin Mizuno, Mia Ueno, Airi Saito |
| Friday, March 26, matinee | The eight above plus Nagisa Hayakawa and Yuria Sato |
| Friday, March 26, evening | Rina, Yuri, Suzuka, Nagisa Hayakawa, Yuria Sato |
The fun part is that some sessions put the anime cast and the stage cast on the same stage. On the evening of March 22, Rina, Yuri and Suzuka (anime side) line up with Kanon Nanaki, Kurumi Takase and Ruka Nemoto (stage side). A conversation between performers who played the same role is something only this project can produce.
The production’s official X account is @gbc_thestage. Inquiries go to gbc.stage-info@toei-anim.co.jp (10:00 to 17:00, closed weekends and holidays).
Why has Girls Band Cry spread this far?
Girls Band Cry is a Toei Animation original anime that aired from April through June 2024. It topped the trending charts on X (formerly Twitter) for seven consecutive weeks during its run, and Blu-ray and DVD vol. 1 has shipped more than 23,000 copies in total.
Togenashi Togeari, the band within the show, formed in February 2023. They played Nippon Budokan in 2025 and pulled off domestic and international tours in 2026. A compilation film also hit theaters in 2025. As an example of a band that started in an anime and became a real one, this is one of the biggest success stories of the past few years.
The manga adaptation is drawn by Iseebi Boil, with Girls Band Cry Vol. 1 released on June 29, 2026 (Micro Magazine, Ride Comics, $5). Anime, concerts, discs, manga – and now a movie, a game and a stage play on top of all that.
Honestly, getting to watch an original anime grow to this scale in real time is a bit of a privilege. A series with no source material going from Budokan to K Arena in three years is not something that happens often.

Summary: spring 2027 brings a concert, a play and a movie back to back
Here is the rundown of the four announcements made on November 3, 2026. Togenashi Togeari’s headline show Rinne no Kagayaki hits K Arena Yokohama on Saturday, March 20, 2027. Application slips for the earliest lottery are included with the Blu-ray and DVD of Togenashi Togeari LIVE in Nippon Budokan Sogeki no Sakebi, released November 4.
The Girls Band Cry stage play runs Sunday, March 21 through Sunday, March 28, 2027 at Sunshine Theatre for 11 performances, rebuilding anime episodes 1 through 8 with Momoka Kawaragi as the protagonist. Tickets are $163 for SS, $85 for S and $64 for A, with the official advance sale running from 19:00 on November 4 until 23:59 on December 20.
Girls Band Cry THE MOVIE opens Friday, May 21, 2027, distributed by Toei. Muvichike advance tickets go on sale Friday, November 6 at 18:00 for $12 (tax included) in limited quantities. Pre-registration for the game Girls Band Cry First Riff is open now, the release date is unannounced, and more details arrive on the official livestream at 19:00 on November 7.
Of the four announcements, the stage play is the one that pushes the work itself the furthest. It is not a restaging of the anime but a rebuild from Momoka’s point of view, a project designed to fill in the blanks the anime left alone. Where the concert and the movie are announcements that make the series bigger, the play is an announcement that makes it deeper. On the flip side, a schedule where the play begins the day after the March 20, 2027 concert is brutal on both your wallet and your calendar if you want both.
The order to move in: the stage play’s official advance sale at 19:00 on November 4, the Muvichike tickets at 18:00 on November 6, then the disc’s earliest lottery. Get it all on the calendar today.
