Atlus has released a new Shadow Trailer for Persona 4 Revival. The footage shows the Shadows of Rise Kujikawa, Naoto Shirogane, and Kanji Tatsumi clashing with the Investigation Team, and debuts music written specifically for this version. Alongside it, three tracks — “Prime Time Golden Hour Show,” “Reach Out To The Truth -Revival-,” and “True Story -Revival-” — are now streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music, each with a lyric video.
The release date is February 18, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, and Steam, with Xbox Game Pass support. The Nintendo Switch 2 version alone lands later, on May 20, 2027. The standard edition costs 9,900 yen (about US$65, converted at 153 yen to the dollar).
Shadow fights in Persona 4 aren’t just boss fights. The part of yourself you’ve been refusing to look at comes at you in your own voice. The original’s most divisive scenes are exactly what this remake had to rebuild. Here’s what the trailer shows, and where each of the three songs fits.
Start with the footage. Which Shadows they’re willing to show before launch tells you how confident they are.
Who shows up in the Shadow Trailer? The Shadows of Rise, Naoto, and Kanji
The trailer features the Shadows of three characters: Rise Kujikawa, Naoto Shirogane, and Kanji Tatsumi. Ai Ebihara can also be spotted in the footage. It went up on Atlus’s official YouTube channel, posted ahead of time on October 3 and then formally announced by Atlus on October 5.
Atlus described the trailer’s contents in its press release as follows.
This trailer includes scenes evoking the heated battles between the protagonists — the Investigation Team — and the Shadows, and also marks the first look at music newly composed for this title.

The logic behind those three picks is easy to read. Rise, Kanji, and Naoto are the characters whose Shadows raged hardest about how they’re perceived by others: the idol persona, the doubt about masculinity, the desperation to be seen as an adult. Those three alone can explain Persona 4’s whole “other self” thesis.
Naoto Shirogane’s Shadow stands out in particular, with voice actor Romi Park’s performance getting attention in Denfaminicogamer’s coverage. Given that this version re-records every line and fully voices its event scenes, the sensation of being torn down in your own voice should hit even harder than it did in the original. I distinctly remember putting the controller down during Kanji’s Shadow fight, so hearing that newly recorded is honestly a little scary. Looking forward to it anyway.
As for Ai Ebihara, her presence in the footage is all that’s confirmed. In the original she’s a Social Link character with no Shadow battle of her own. Whether this connects to the newly added Location Episodes, and what her appearance in the trailer means, had not been explained officially as of October 5, 2026.
Where do the three streaming tracks fit? One new battle theme and two revivals
The three songs announced for streaming and lyric videos split into two categories. “Prime Time Golden Hour Show” is a new battle theme written for this version, while “Reach Out To The Truth -Revival-” and “True Story -Revival-” are arrangements of music from the original and Persona 4 Golden, reworked for the remake.
| Track | What it is | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Prime Time Golden Hour Show | New battle theme | Vocals: Shiori Sasaki, composition: ATLUS Sound Team. Released early on August 31, 2026 |
| Reach Out To The Truth -Revival- | Revival of the original’s battle theme | Original sung by Shihoko Hirata (2008) |
| True Story -Revival- | Revival of a Persona 4 Golden track | Original sung by Shihoko Hirata (2012) |
For “Prime Time Golden Hour Show,” the August 31 early release officially credited Shiori Sasaki on vocals and the ATLUS Sound Team on composition. For the two “-Revival-” tracks, the soundtrack announcement states that new arrangements with new vocals are included, and it’s reasonable to assume the same Shiori Sasaki is singing — but as of the October 5, 2026 release, individual credits for those two tracks are not spelled out.
Here’s my concern. “Reach Out To The Truth” is inseparable from Shihoko Hirata’s voice for a lot of people, and whether the revival version lands will come down to the listener. The good news is that Atlus didn’t erase the original; it lined the revivals up under a separate “-Revival-” label. The soundtrack puts original-based tracks and revival tracks side by side, which leaves room to compare them.
One more thing: the press release doesn’t specify which of the three the trailer’s “first look” music actually is, or whether it’s something else entirely. “Prime Time Golden Hour Show” was already out in August, so the new track in the trailer is presumably one of the “-Revival-” pair or a fourth, unannounced song. That one’s waiting on an official answer.
When does it release and how much does it cost? February 18, 2027, with Switch 2 on May 20 and pre-order bonuses closing the day before
PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, and Steam all launch on February 18, 2027, with Xbox Game Pass support. The Nintendo Switch 2 version comes three months later, on May 20, 2027. Physical copies are limited to PS5 and Switch 2; Xbox and PC are digital only.
| Edition | Price | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | 9,900 yen (about US$65) | Physical / digital |
| Digital Deluxe Edition | 11,880 yen (about US$78) | Digital |
| Digital Premium Edition | 13,640 yen (about US$89) | Digital |
| Limited Box | 18,480 yen (about US$121) | Physical (PS5 / Switch 2) |
The pre-order bonus is the “P3R & P5R Extra BGM Set,” which lets you use music from Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Royal in this game’s battles. The cutoff is 23:59 on February 17, 2027, the day before launch, or 23:59 on May 19, 2027 for Switch 2. The CERO rating is B (ages 12 and up), with the Switch 2 version still pending review. Physical editions carry a 15-and-up label because of the bundled goods.
Don’t sleep on the Game Pass support. If you own an Xbox or a gaming PC and you’re already subscribed, you can play from day one without spending the 9,900 yen. For anyone new to the series, that’s the cheapest door in. I’m planning to put the Steam version on my Steam Deck, but yes, I’m jealous of the Game Pass crowd.

Summary: three Shadows, three songs streaming, and a February 18, 2027 release
Persona 4 Revival’s Shadow Trailer features the Shadows of Rise Kujikawa, Naoto Shirogane, and Kanji Tatsumi, with Ai Ebihara also visible. “Prime Time Golden Hour Show,” “Reach Out To The Truth -Revival-,” and “True Story -Revival-” are streaming now on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music, each with a lyric video. The game arrives February 18, 2027 (May 20 for Switch 2), the standard edition is 9,900 yen, and it’s on Game Pass. The Extra BGM Set pre-order bonus closes at 23:59 on February 17 (May 19 for Switch 2).
Leading with the Shadows means this trailer understands what Persona 4 actually is. Picking Rise, Kanji, and Naoto, then using fully re-recorded voices to deliver the self-denial head-on, is the right call. The music will divide people, but keeping the originals and filing the new takes separately as “-Revival-” is an honest way to handle it. The only thing still unreadable is why Ai Ebihara is in the footage at all.
If Kanji’s Shadow fight is where you quit the first time, go all the way this time. I will too.
