The next GIRLS und PANZER game has been announced: GIRLS und PANZER All Star Tank Carnival is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The reveal landed on October 9, 2026, timed to 14 years since the anime first aired and the franchise’s 15th anniversary.
Development is being handled by the team behind GIRLS und PANZER Dream Tank Match. True to the “All Star” branding, schools and teams from across the series are expected to show up. Pricing and full specs are still undecided.
Online matches support up to 10 players, and the game is being built to lean on Switch 2 hardware for those battles. Also confirmed: Town Walk, a mode for exploring the streets of Ooarai alongside Miho Nishizumi; the chance to ride atop the Type 4 Heavy Tank; and an original scenario mode with quests. Here’s everything that’s been announced, and where this fits in the series’ game history.
GIRLS und PANZER All Star Tank Carnival: the basics
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Title | GIRLS und PANZER All Star Tank Carnival |
| Platform | Nintendo Switch 2 |
| Release window | 2027 (exact date TBA) |
| Price | TBA |
| Developer | The Dream Tank Match development team |
| Online multiplayer | Up to 10 players |
That’s the full extent of what’s public as of October 9, 2026. The roster of playable teams, the specifics of match rules, and whether offline multiplayer exists have not been announced.
Modes and features — 10-player battles, Town Walk, and riding the Type 4
On the competitive side, online matches scale to 10 players. Dream Tank Match was built around 5-on-5 tank combat, so the headcount is comparable; the real question is how stable large-scale battles will be on Switch 2’s online infrastructure. There’s also a scenario mode with quests, which points to a game that wants story content, not just matchmaking.
One of the standout modes is Town Walk, which lets you wander the streets of Ooarai with Miho Nishizumi. Ooarai is holy ground for GIRLS und PANZER fans, and getting to explore it in-game delivers a kind of series-specific experience that has nothing to do with tank combat. How faithfully the shopping district and the coastline from the anime are recreated will matter most to the fans who’ve actually made the pilgrimage.
Riding atop the Type 4 Heavy Tank appears to be about perching on the tank and taking in the town from up there, though the control details haven’t been shown. As a way to feel the sheer bulk of a heavy tank from a passenger’s eye line, it’s a promising hook.
The series’ game history — the line from Dream Tank Match
GIRLS und PANZER’s television anime aired in October 2012, followed by the film and the ongoing Das Finale series. There have been several games along the way, and this new one sits at the end of that line.
| Title | Release | Platform and notes |
|---|---|---|
| GIRLS und PANZER Dream Tank Match | February 22, 2018 | PS4. A 3D action game recreating tank battles from the anime and the film |
| GIRLS und PANZER Dream Tank Match DX | February 21, 2019 | Nintendo Switch. An expanded version adding Das Finale content |
| GIRLS und PANZER All Star Tank Carnival | Planned for 2027 | Nintendo Switch 2. Up to 10-player battles, Town Walk, scenario mode |
Dream Tank Match earned praise for how well it recreated the tank combat, but it took criticism for a thin mode list and a player base that struggled to hold up. The word “Carnival” is doing real work in the new title: broadening the appeal with things to do outside of matches — walking the town, riding the tanks, running quests.
What makes it interesting as a Switch 2 title
As a Nintendo Switch 2 game, it should bring better visuals and more processing headroom than its predecessor. Ten-player battles mean more tanks on screen at once, and Town Walk means an entire version of Ooarai you can traverse on foot — neither of which works without the hardware underneath it. Whether it carves out a place in Switch 2’s post-launch lineup is the thing to watch.
Release is set for 2027, with no narrower window as of October 2026. Dream Tank Match was apparently a blast back in the day, and I only ever got to play it on a friend’s Switch. This time I’m buying my own copy.

In summary: a 15th-anniversary send-off, on Switch 2 in 2027

Pricing, the release date and the team roster are all still unannounced, so there’s more to come. Pivoting from a predecessor that lived and died on multiplayer toward a wider spread of things to do is, in my view, the right call.
GIRLS und PANZER All Star Tank Carnival is planned for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, and the feature list is stacked: online battles for up to 10 players, Town Walk, and riding atop the Type 4. As the capstone on the series’ 15th anniversary, expectations are high.
