Season 5 of Battlefield 6, the FPS from EA and DICE, went live on October 13, 2026. This one is set in Nevada, and day one brings the new Vegas Strip and Area 51 maps, four new weapons, and Rapid Royale, a new battle royale mode. The Dead Space crossover event runs from October 20 to November 7.
The season is split into three phases: Siege of Las Vegas on October 13, Casino Heist on November 10, and Frozen Aces on December 8. The server browser and Platoons feature that players have been asking for since launch arrive in that last drop on December 8.
This article breaks down what is in each phase and when, what makes the new maps tick, and what the Dead Space crossover actually involves, all based on EA’s official roadmap. If the shot of a casino collapsing got your attention, start by locking in the dates.
An FPS set in Vegas is hardly novel, but getting a collapsing casino and an Area 51 with an underground facility in the same season is a luxury.
What does Season 5 Phase 1, Siege of Las Vegas, add?
Phase 1 on October 13 adds the new Vegas Strip and Area 51 maps, four new weapons, and Rapid Royale, a new REDSEC mode. Here is everything laid out from EA’s official roadmap.

Vegas Strip: casinos, hotels, and the drainage tunnels below
This is a large-scale urban combat map built around a neon-lit boulevard. According to EA’s official description, you fight across casinos, hotels, and the drainage tunnels underneath, with helicopters and vehicles in the mix. Game Spark’s hands-on preview confirmed a tower collapse reminiscent of BF4, and described a layout dotted with multi-level casinos and underground tunnels.
Area 51: a classified facility at the bottom of a crater
A desert military base where tank and helicopter combat takes the lead. The centerpiece, per the official description, is a “massive crater leading to a classified underground facility,” with the open desert above connected to tight interiors below by sharp elevation changes. Game Spark’s early report also highlighted that verticality.
Four new weapons and Rapid Royale
The new weapons are the Mk 24 assault rifle, the RSPR submachine gun, the Z84M light machine gun, and the ELR-40 bolt-action sniper rifle. That covers close range through long range in one pass.
REDSEC, the free battle royale, gets Rapid Royale. It is built around smaller lobbies, high-value loadouts, and a relentlessly closing Ring of Fire, with support for trios and solos. Game Spark reports matches run 12 to 15 minutes, making it a fast battle royale. A ranked battle royale season kicks off alongside it.
When does the Dead Space crossover start and end? Inside Marker Incursion
The Dead Space crossover event runs from October 20 to November 7. It is a limited-time PvE mode called Marker Incursion, timed for Halloween, with a premise in which a Marker hidden deep inside the Area 51 facility triggers a Convergence Event.
EA is crossing its own IP over to drop Dead Space horror into an FPS. Even in Battlefield’s history, a limited-time PvE mode is a rare thing. Whether necromorphs actually show up or it is just Marker staging is not spelled out in much detail officially, so that is something to check once it goes live.
Personally, I was the kind of player who set the Steam Deck down and took a deep breath every time the Dead Space remake killed me, so hearing that something like that is waiting under Area 51 makes me brace a little. But I am probably going anyway.
Phase 2, Casino Heist, lands November 10. What is European Casino?
Phase 2 on November 10 kicks off the limited-time Casino Heist event, and later in the season adds European Casino, a new map built for infantry combat. EA’s official description calls it an indoor battlefield centered on close-quarters fighting.
The new weapons are the NSW4 carbine and the M142 MRAS rocket system. Vegas Strip handles large-scale outdoor warfare while European Casino handles indoor infantry fights, slicing the city into two different densities.
Phase 3, Frozen Aces, finally delivers Platoons and the server browser
Phase 3 on December 8 brings Operation High Roller plus Platoons and the server browser, two of the most requested features since launch. Game Spark reports that Platoons support communities of up to 100 players.
The new B-81 Cavalry vehicle also arrives, and existing maps Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City get reworked based on community feedback. On the competitive side, the REDSEC Open Series will be followed by a prize-pool Elite Series.
Here is my gripe: the feature people wanted most does not show up until December. Front-loading Season 5’s headline content and saving the quality-of-life work for last makes sense as a way to keep players around for three months. But for anyone who wants to play with friends on a fixed server, that is two more months of waiting.
