Dead by Daylight is crossing over with NieR:Automata. The NieR:Automata Collection lands in-game on October 7, 2026 in Japan and October 6 everywhere else. The announcement came on October 3, and the teaser carried a single line: “Humanity’s war continues on, inside the fog.”

What’s actually in it? As of October 5, 2026, there’s no official word. Which characters, whose skins they ride on, what any of it costs — all of that drops on October 7. This article separates what’s confirmed from what isn’t.

NieR has crossed over with more than 20 titles at this point. Even so, the image of 2B standing in the Fog is not one I saw coming.

Start with the confirmed part. The date and the format are the two things that aren’t moving.

When does the DbD NieR crossover start? October 7 in Japan, October 6 overseas

The NieR:Automata Collection goes live October 7, 2026 in Japan and October 6 in other regions. The one-day split is the usual time zone quirk for DbD releases. The announcement went out October 3 on the official X account.

Here’s the entirety of what the official post said.

Humanity’s war continues on, inside the fog.

“Humanity’s war” is the premise of NieR:Automata itself — the story of YoRHa, an android unit fighting on humanity’s behalf, folded into DbD’s Fog in a single sentence. Before the reveal, the official social accounts posted a tease written in angelic script, the writing system unique to the NieR series, and the sharper players had it figured out ahead of time.

What’s in the Collection? As of October 5, 2026 there’s no official announcement

As of October 5, 2026, the skins included, the characters they apply to, and the pricing have not been announced. Famitsu’s write-up says plainly that this was an announcement of the crossover only, with no details on its contents.

Overseas outlets have floated 2B, 9S, and A2 as the likely trio. That’s press speculation, though — no official statement has named anyone. 2B being in is treated as a given, but “treated as a given” isn’t the same as confirmed, and it’s worth keeping that straight.

Pricing is also unannounced. Past licensed Collections have typically sold individual skins for Auric Cells, the game’s paid currency, but how this one is structured won’t be clear until the store updates on October 7.

Assuming 2B is in, the biggest question is whose skin she becomes. Does she go on one of the taller female survivors, or does the team do something unexpected and put her on the killer side? I’m 172cm myself, so I have a completely unearned sense of kinship with 2B’s listed height. That’s enough about height.

What’s the difference between a Chapter and a Collection? Skins, not new characters

This is a Collection, not a Chapter. The distinction is opaque if you haven’t played DbD, so here it is laid out.

Format What it adds Past examples
Chapter A new killer, a new survivor, unique perks (sometimes a map) Resident Evil, Silent Hill
Collection Cosmetic skins for existing characters only Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul

Because it’s a Collection, 2B isn’t arriving as a new survivor with her own perks. An existing survivor or killer will wear a 2B outfit instead. Nothing about game balance changes; this is purely a visual addition.

The upside: if you own base DbD, you can take part by buying a skin and nothing else. The downside: anyone hoping for a Chapter is going to come away wanting. If you were picturing yourself running for your life through NieR’s world, accept now that no map is coming.

Summary: the date and format are locked, the contents land October 7

The DbD × NieR:Automata crossover arrives as the NieR:Automata Collection on October 7, 2026 in Japan and October 6 overseas. It’s a cosmetic Collection rather than a Chapter, and the included characters, the survivors they apply to, and the pricing are all unannounced as of October 5, 2026. The appearance of 2B, 9S, and A2 is overseas-press speculation with no official confirmation yet. The DbD Japanese official X account (@DbDBHVR_JP) is the fastest source for updates.

SPOTGEEKS VERDICT

The rollout is well played. From the angelic-script tease to the one-line teaser, building anticipation while releasing nothing is a DbD specialty. But with the contents unknown, the only actionable advice right now is: open the store on October 7. Half of this crossover’s verdict rests on which character the 2B skin lands on.

What you can expect is cosmetics. This isn’t a Chapter — make peace with that up front.
