Gameplay footage that appears to come from an unannounced remake of Revelations: Persona — the original Persona — has reportedly leaked online. IGN Japan covered the story on November 2, 2026, describing a clip of just under two minutes that looks like a modern take on the first game from Sega and Atlus.
As of November 2026, however, there has been no official announcement from Sega or Atlus. IGN has reached out to Sega for comment and is holding off on publishing the footage itself. In other words, everything here is unofficial information for now.
The fan community is still in an uproar, reportedly because the footage carries a strange kind of credibility. And one of the pillars of that credibility is the figure standing right there on screen, who by all appearances is Tatsuya Suou. The protagonist of Persona 2, somehow mixed into a Persona 1 remake.
This article walks through what has been reported as rumor, the reasons people believe the clip could be genuine, and the whole business of Tatsuya showing up. To repeat: not a single detail here is confirmed. It is all “there is a rumor that…” territory.
Has a Revelations: Persona remake been announced?
As of November 2026, there has been no official announcement from Sega or Atlus regarding a Revelations: Persona remake.
According to IGN Japan’s report, footage believed to come from an unannounced remake has leaked. The clip was reportedly posted first to a YouTube channel under the account name P1REMAKE, then spread to Reddit and other social platforms from there.
And that YouTube account is where things get strange. Per the reporting, it was created in March 2010, has only two other uploads to its name, and its previous post went up more than 14 years ago. An account made 16 years ago with exactly two videos on it suddenly tosses out leaked Persona 1 remake footage. That is too elaborate for a hoax, and too odd for a genuine leak route.
With AI-generated fakes flooding the internet these days, footage like this deserves skepticism. IGN is holding back from publishing the clip as well.
Why do people think the leaked footage is real?
The prevailing view in the fan community is reportedly that the clip is probably authentic. Here are the reasons being cited.
| Reason cited for authenticity | Details |
|---|---|
| Matching production quality | Music, effects, and artwork textures consistent with recent Atlus titles |
| Length and polish | Far too long and too finished to be a fake |
| Character animation | Eriko Kirishima’s Persona summoning animation appears to be shared with Yukiko Amagi’s in Persona 4 Revival |
The third point is the one drawing the most attention. Persona 4 Revival is scheduled for February 18, 2027, and is not out yet. The reasoning goes that whoever made this clip had to be in a position to reuse animation from an unreleased game.
That said, this too is still at the stage of “some people say it looks that way.” Matching animation is exactly the sort of thing where the viewer’s own expectations creep in. It is not grounds for a definitive call.
So why is Tatsuya Suou in the footage?
The leaked footage reportedly includes Tatsuya Suou, apparently dropped in as a stand-in for a character model that was not finished yet. Yes, the protagonist of Persona 2: Innocent Sin.
This is what has people arguing. The straightforward read is that during development someone plugged an existing asset into a slot where the real model did not exist yet. That happens constantly in production.
But of all the characters to grab, it had to be Tatsuya. The Persona 2 lead whose name comes up every single time a remake rumor starts and whose own remake never actually moves forward is now standing in a Persona 1 remake clip as a placeholder. A protagonist who never says a word in his own game has become, inside a leaked video, a piece of information just by existing. I have never seen a fan favorite land a guest appearance in the temporary-model slot before.
Social media reaction has landed mostly on exactly that. According to the reporting, @droolvana posted on October 31, 2026: “that’s definitely a p1 remake trailer. why is tatsuya in it.” @JohnnyLockson likewise wrote that the leaked P1 remake footage has to be 100 percent real, because he cannot imagine anyone putting in that much work for a fake.
There is also a dissenting read. @osu_MeovvCAT reportedly argued that while the clip looks credible, the claim that Tatsuya is replacing Masao is completely bogus — that this is likely an internal investor pitch covering remakes of both Persona 1 and Persona 2, rather than Persona 1 itself. The same post noted that the presence of Persona 4 Revival animation strengthens the case for the footage being genuine.
If that read is correct, Tatsuya being there is not a placeholder at all but a statement of intent: “we’re doing 2, as well.” Speaking as a Persona 2 fan, I would very much like that theory to win.
When was it recorded, and what is the wider context?
Even if the clip is real, the date it was captured is said to be unknown. It could be from yesterday, or from years ago. There is also speculation that it may be a proof-of-concept or pitch video made to sell the project internally.
For context: Sega released Persona 3 Reload in 2024, and Persona 4 Revival is only months away. Kazuhisa Wada, a producer at Atlus P-Studio, reportedly stopped short of confirming remake development for Revelations: Persona and Persona 2 back in August of this year, while acknowledging his personal view that it is “something that has to be done.”
Atlus also has a track record here. Development footage of the Persona 3 remake leaked in 2023, images of Persona 6 leaked in June 2026, and a large-scale leak via Steam in September reportedly exposed that game’s full trophy list. Stack those up and you end up treating Atlus as a company where leaks genuinely can happen.
Again, though: Sega and Atlus have said nothing about this particular footage. Until official word arrives, all of it stays a rumor.

Persona 1 remake leak rumor: what we know
Here is the state of play. IGN reported that footage running just under two minutes, believed to come from an unannounced remake of Revelations: Persona, has leaked. The source was a YouTube account named P1REMAKE, reportedly created in March 2010, with two other uploads and a previous post from more than 14 years ago.
The reasons cited for authenticity are production quality consistent with recent Atlus work, a level of polish excessive for a fake, and Eriko Kirishima’s summoning animation appearing to match Yukiko Amagi’s in Persona 4 Revival. Tatsuya Suou is also reportedly visible, seemingly as a stand-in for an unfinished model.
There has been no official announcement from Sega or Atlus as of November 2026. IGN has requested comment from Sega. Persona 4 Revival releases on February 18, 2027.
*This article covers unofficial information based on reporting as of November 2, 2026. We will update it as soon as there is an official announcement.
A YouTube account created 16 years ago, animation from an unreleased game, and the protagonist of Persona 2 standing in as a placeholder. If this is a fake, the effort involved is abnormal; if it is real, the route it took to get out is abnormal. Either way, the fact that a rumor this strange can gain this much traction says plenty about how many people are waiting for an original Persona remake. Until an official announcement lands, treating it as a rumor is the right distance to keep.
Tatsuya showing up in the placeholder slot instead of his own remake was, I admit, not on my list of possibilities.
