BANDAI SPIRITS gave three new Gunpla kits their first public showing on the floor of the 64th All Japan Model & Hobby Show. The trio: RG 1/144 Ground Type Gundam, HG 1/144 Hamma-Hamma, and MGSD 00 Raiser.

It’s a pretty deep-cut lineup. Ground Type Gundam in RG, Hamma-Hamma in HG, 00 Raiser in MGSD. As a slate of new kits, this isn’t the safe play of stacking up crowd-pleasers. It’s more of a “oh, so that’s the gap you’re filling” set of picks.

Release windows: RG Ground Type Gundam in February 2027, HG Hamma-Hamma and MGSD 00 Raiser in March 2027. As of October 2026 there is no official pricing for any of them.

Speaking as a guy who’s in Akihabara once a week, the Hamma-Hamma is the machine people have been asking about for years. And now it’s coming in HG. Let’s go through them.

When do the three new Gunpla kits release? Projected launch windows

The release windows split across the three kits: RG Ground Type Gundam is slated for February 2027, while HG Hamma-Hamma and MGSD 00 Raiser are both planned for March 2027.

Product Release window Price
RG 1/144 Ground Type Gundam Planned for February 2027 Not announced
HG 1/144 Hamma-Hamma Planned for March 2027 Not announced
MGSD 00 Raiser Planned for March 2027 Not announced

As for pricing, there is no official announcement as of October 2026. A first showing at a hobby show is an announcement that the thing exists; pricing and final specs come later. I’ll pass on penciling in numbers based on hope.

What stands out about RG Ground Type Gundam, HG Hamma-Hamma, and MGSD 00 Raiser?

All three mean something different in terms of where they sit in the lineup.

RG 1/144 Ground Type Gundam is a move to bring a mass-production-flavored machine from the Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team side of things into RG. RG is the line that squeezes more density out of a scale than it should have, thanks to inner frames and finely separated colors, and the Ground Type’s plain-looking loadout is exactly the kind of subject where that detail work should pop.

HG 1/144 Hamma-Hamma is the headliner here, no question. It’s a Neo Zeon machine from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ with a distinctive silhouette and those wire-guided hands, and all eyes are on how HG handles that gimmick. This isn’t a design that gets turned into a model kit very often.

MGSD 00 Raiser means 00 Raiser is joining MGSD, the SD-format line. MGSD shrinks the proportions while tightening up seam line treatment and color separation, and the 00 Raiser’s big backpack is a natural fit for an SD body.

If I’m naming a concern, it’s that all three are still at the “first showing” stage. It’s not unusual for specs to get adjusted between the prototype shown on the floor and the actual release. The final word on accessories and articulation has to wait for the formal product announcement.

What else did BANDAI SPIRITS show? ROGUE ORBIT, Mixximize, and Gundam Cross

The BANDAI SPIRITS booth put several other new initiatives on display beyond the three new Gunpla kits.

  • GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT had HG Keriis and HG Baubaram on show for the first time
  • Gundam Mixximize wave 2 covers the Ground Type Gundam and the Wing Gundam
  • New Gundam Cross releases are Gundam Deathscythe & Duo Maxwell, and Char’s Zaku & Char

The interesting part here is that Mixximize wave 2 also includes the Ground Type Gundam. The same machine as the new RG kit is moving across two lines at once. Rather than coincidence, the natural read is that Bandai has made the Ground Type its push machine for this stretch.

On the Gundam Cross side, they’re sticking with the format of pairing a mobile suit with its pilot. Deathscythe and Duo, Char’s Zaku and Char: this “display them with the person flying them” idea makes for an easy shelf picture. As collectibles go, that’s just straightforwardly strong.

Three new Gunpla kits: first-showing roundup

To recap. BANDAI SPIRITS gave three new Gunpla kits their first public showing at the 64th All Japan Model & Hobby Show (October 3 to 4, 2026, Tokyo Big Sight, West Halls 3 and 4).

RG 1/144 Ground Type Gundam is planned for February 2027, with HG 1/144 Hamma-Hamma and MGSD 00 Raiser both planned for March 2027. Pricing for all three is unannounced as of October 2026. Shown alongside them were GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT’s HG Keriis and HG Baubaram, Gundam Mixximize wave 2 (Ground Type Gundam and Wing Gundam), and the new Gundam Cross releases (Gundam Deathscythe & Duo Maxwell, Char’s Zaku & Char).

SPOTGEEKS VERDICT

The biggest surprise of the three is HG Hamma-Hamma. A Neo Zeon machine out of ZZ, carrying wire-guided hands, a gimmick that’s genuinely hard to engineer into a kit, is getting an HG. The RG Ground Type Gundam is the solid, dependable pick, and since the same machine also turns up in Mixximize wave 2, you can read the Ground Type as the favorite Bandai is pushing this season. MGSD 00 Raiser is a combination that clicks once you think about how well an SD body pairs with a big backpack. That said, all of them are at the first-showing stage, with neither pricing nor final specs announced. Figuring out your buying plan can wait until the formal product announcements.

Everyone who’s been waiting on a Hamma-Hamma: it’s finally happening. Start warming up your wallet for March 2027.
