#2: MG 1/100 FAZZ Ver.Ka

The FAZZ from Gundam Sentinel is a ZZ-line MS originally built as a test unit. This kit, released in the Ver.Ka line, has shipped only five times total between its 2020 launch and April 2026. It’s been in chronic short supply, and during the shortage years (2022–2024) it traded for $261 to over $327. Even after the latest restock, it still goes for around $163–$229, making it a tough kit you really can’t call “gettable if you just wait for a restock.”

#3: MG 1/100 Ex-S Gundam/S Gundam

This mega-popular kit took first place in the Premium Bandai Gunpla General Election 2025. It’s the machine that caps off Gundam Sentinel’s climax, and fully deployed, it’s so massive you’d never guess it’s an MG. It has repeated the same cycle of instant sellout followed by price spikes with every restock, and at its peak, listings over $327 were spotted on Amazon. The “Task Force α Ver.” also dropped in July 2025, so collector demand for the two versions is now competing head-to-head.

#4: MG 1/100 Providence Gundam

The Providence, Rau Le Creuset’s final machine, is overwhelmingly popular even among SEED-era MGs. Its DRAGOON system deploys a ton of units all over the body, so it looks absolutely stunning once built. Demand spikes every time a new Mobile Suit Gundam SEED project or sequel is announced, and during shortages the price jumps to over 3x retail. Right after a restock it settles down to around $46–$65, but it climbs again with the next shortage, a wave-like price pattern that defines this kit.

#5: HGUC 1/144 Neo Zeong (Premium Bandai Exclusive)

The version that’s actually skyrocketing is this HGUC 1/144 one. It’s a Premium Bandai exclusive made-to-order item, with an average winning bid on Yahoo! Auctions of over $216, and sealed copies in great condition reach around $654. It stands over 600mm tall, and the gimmick of housing a Sinanju Stein inside gives it a density you’d never expect at HGUC scale.

#6: HGUC 1/144 Doven Wolf

A Neo Zeon MS from Gundam ZZ. After the HGUC kit launched in 2014, it shot up to $92–$98 and beyond (over 5x retail) during stretches without a restock. Thanks to restocks in September 2025 and January–March 2026, it’s currently settled at around $20–$33, but there’s a good chance it’ll spike again the next time supply dries up. It’s a textbook example of a kit where “now is close to rock bottom, so buy.”

#7: RE/100 1/100 Nightingale

The Nightingale, Char’s final machine, is the most in-demand kit in the entire RE/100 line. It sells out instantly with every restock, and on the secondhand market it consistently holds at 1.5–2x retail. The huge funnel containers and that big, bulky silhouette make it a knockout on display once built, and it enjoys steady demand as a must-have for fans of Char’s Counterattack and Gundam UC.

#8: HGUC 1/144 Gundam GP03 Dendrobium

The multiplier may be modest, but the absolute price is so high that the collector impact is huge. Since its first release in 2002, the only real restock has been a special made-to-order run after it won #1 in a 2023 HGUC popularity poll. The combined size of the giant Stamen (the core unit) plus the Orchis is unbelievable for HGUC, and the amount of shelf space it eats once built is no joke. Because storing and shipping it is such a hassle, there aren’t many listings to begin with, and copies in good condition tend to sell immediately.

#9: MG 1/100 Rick Dias (Quattro’s Custom / Mass-Production Type)

The AEUG’s mainstay MS from Zeta Gundam comes in two variants: the mass-production type (black) and Quattro Bajeena’s custom (red). Premium Bandai restocks it on an irregular basis, so you do get chances to buy it, but miss one and the price spikes right away. It has one of the best balances of sculpting and articulation among Zeta Gundam-era MGs, and it enjoys enduring demand as “the one you can’t skip if you’re collecting the Zeta Gundam lineup.”

#10 | MG 1/100 Johnny Ridden’s Gelgoog Ver.2.0 (Premium Bandai Exclusive)

This is the Premium Bandai exclusive Gelgoog Ver.2.0 in the signature red-and-yellow colors of Johnny Ridden, the “Crimson Lightning.” Even when the standard-color Gelgoog Ver.2.0 gets restocked, this color variant rarely comes back on its own. Its markup is the most modest on this list, but there’s rock-solid demand among hardcore MSV fans, and since so few copies get listed, the ones that do tend to sell instantly.

#11 | MG 1/100 Qubeley Mk-II (Elpeo Ple Custom)

There are two variants, Ple’s pink machine and Ple Two’s gray one, and Ple’s version is the tougher find by a wide margin. As the mobile suit of Elpeo Ple, one of the most beloved characters from Gundam ZZ, it has a devoted fan base, and being a Premium Bandai exclusive means restocks are extremely rare.

The standard MG Qubeley doesn’t get restocked much either, but this custom-color version shows up even less. If you’re collecting the ZZ lineup, this is the one kit you should lock down first.

That’s the fate of every Premium Bandai exclusive: once preorders close, the secondhand market is your only option. Buying early is the only right answer.

#12 | HGUC 1/144 Gelgoog Marine Cima Custom

This is the personal machine of Cima Garahau from Stardust Memory. Its toxic blue-green paint job gives it a seriously loud personality. It’s officially rated a three-star rare HGUC kit.

With an MSRP of just $11, the golden rule is simple: if it gets restocked, buy it on the spot. During dry spells it spikes to around $52, which puts its markup right up there with the top of this ranking.

#13 | MG 1/100 GM Custom (0083 Stardust Memory Version)

The GM Custom is a fan favorite among 0083 devotees as the “wingman to the Gundam GP01.” It’s rated three-star rare on the MG list, so its low restock frequency is practically guaranteed. Despite the common wisdom that “nobody wants a GM,” a hardcore 0083 fan base keeps serious buying pressure on this kit.

It’s not unusual for it to sell out the moment restock news drops, and you’ll almost never see it go below MSRP on the secondhand market. Get complacent thinking “eh, it’s just a GM,” and the next thing you know, the only listings left are $59 ones. That story keeps repeating itself.

#14 | HGUC 1/144 Gabthley

A Titans mobile armor from Zeta Gundam, known for its transformation gimmick between humanoid and MA modes. It has been restocked only a handful of times since its 2005 release, which makes it one of the hardest-to-find kits among the Zeta Gundam HGUC lineup.

For collectors aiming to “complete the whole Zeta lineup,” whether or not you own this Gabthley makes a huge difference in how complete your collection feels. If you spot one, buy it immediately.

#15 | HGUC 1/144 Ex-S Gundam

The 1/144 scale take on the Ex-S, in just as much demand among Sentinel collectors as the MG Ex-S at #3. It’s a veteran kit from 2002, but as Sentinel’s popularity climbs, its secondhand prices have been trending upward too. It’s an unusually big kit for HG scale, and fully deployed, it’s a jaw-dropper.

Plenty of collectors love lining it up next to the MG version for a “same suit, different scale” display, and it has steady demand on its own as well. It tends to get overshadowed by the MG version’s wave of restocks, but this one has been in short supply just the same.

#16 | MG 1/100 Gundam X

The hero machine of After War Gundam X. Its one-of-a-kind silhouette, built around a satellite cannon, plus a loyal fan base for the After War universe keep demand going strong year after year. Its restock frequency is among the lowest in the entire MG line, and there’s a long-standing theory among fans that “Gundam X kits just don’t get produced in big numbers.”

The whole Gundam X kit family (Gundam X, Gundam Double X, Gundam Airmaster Burst, and so on) rarely gets restocked, so trying to collect them all is a struggle on both budget and timing. The smart play is to grab each one whenever you see it.

#17 | HGUC 1/144 Pallas Athene

A heavy mobile suit from Zeta Gundam, piloted by Reccoa, a female pilot who fights for the Titans. Its arm and leg proportions are unusual, giving it one of the most distinctive silhouettes in all of Gunpla. Released in 2006 and rarely restocked since, it often ends up being the “last missing piece” of a Zeta collection.

#18 | HGUC 1/144 Dom Tropen Sand Brown

A color variant of the Dom-type mobile suit from 0083. Unlike the standard Dom Tropen (marine color), its sand-brown scheme gives it that gritty desert-warfare look. It’s a must-have for 0083 diehards, and plenty of fans love lining it up next to the standard version to show off the color contrast.

Don’t fall into the trap of assuming “it’s just a color variant, so demand must be low.” For hardcore 0083 fans, this kit matters just as much as the original, and it’s been living up to its three-star rare rating in terms of how hard it is to find.

By the way, the UC version has the same colors and even comes with more gear, yet for some reason this one ends up costing more.

#19 | HGUC 1/144 Bawoo (Mass Production Type)

A Neo Zeon transformable mobile suit from Gundam ZZ. Its signature gimmick is splitting into an upper half (MA mode) and a lower half (MS mode), and plenty of fans buy two at a time. It’s a veteran kit released back in 2002, yet collector demand for the ZZ lineup still pushes its price up today.

When you get fired up and declare “I’m collecting every ZZ kit,” this Bawoo often turns out to be the final boss. Its markup hasn’t spiked as hard as the top of the ranking, but the sheer lack of supply makes it tough to get your hands on.

#20 | MG 1/100 Mass Production Type Gelgoog Ver.2.0

The mass production type, built off the same mold base as Char’s Gelgoog Ver.2.0. If you’re thinking “it’s a grunt suit, so it must get restocked all the time,” you’re dead wrong: it’s rated three-star rare on the MG list. For collectors who like to build out the One Year War Zeon forces with mass production suits, having this kit or not dramatically changes how the whole display looks.

The markup may be modest, but given how rarely you get a shot at buying it at MSRP, its spot on this list is well earned. If you’re collecting Gelgoogs, the classic strategy is to go for the trio: Char’s custom, Johnny Ridden’s custom, and the mass production type.

Oddly enough, this is a bit of a special case: it keeps getting restocked exclusively at Gundam Base.

🚫 Bonus Round: Discontinued Gunpla You’ll Never Buy at Retail Again

These didn’t make the ranking, but there’s a category of Gunpla that’s “truly unobtainable” no matter how long you wait for a restock. This isn’t about premium pricing. These are kits that Bandai no longer officially manufactures or sells, so the secondhand market is your only option.

Before you start building a serious collection, it’s worth knowing these exist. “I’ll grab it someday” means you’ll never get it. That’s the harsh reality of discontinued Gunpla.

Bonus #1: HG 1/144 RX-78 Gundam (Original HG Series, 1990)

The original Gundam that kicked off the HG brand as its very first release. Produced as part of Gunpla’s 10th anniversary, it was an experimental kit that debuted multi-color runners made with system injection technology, plus a Core Fighter transformation and docking gimmick.

It launched in 1990 at a retail price of $7 (before tax). Pulling off a transforming, docking Core Fighter at that price tells you just how serious Bandai was back then. On today’s used market, new-condition copies go for $20–$33 or more, and as a living witness to Gunpla history, it carries serious collector value.

Bonus #2: Lalah Sune’s Mobile Armor “Elmeth” (First Edition)

In Japanese, “Elmeth” is written exactly the same as the French luxury brand Hermès, so Bandai had no choice but to rename the kit “Lalah Sune’s Mobile Armor.” A first-edition box that still has “Elmeth” printed on it is one of the top collector’s items in all of Gunpla history.

Because it went out of production over a trademark dispute, a first edition sits on a completely different level from your typical premium kit. If you spot one on Yahoo! Auctions Japan, make sure you check the product name carefully.

Bonus #3: The First Six BB Senshi Kits (No.1–No.6)

This is the complete lineup of the first six BB Senshi kits, starting with Gundaman and Zetaman 2. The series held up the dawn of the SD Gundam boom, and its design and sculpting philosophy is worlds apart from today’s BB Senshi. Among collectors, a “complete set of early BB Senshi” is a serious status symbol.

Topping the “grab it right now” list are the MG FAZZ Ver.Ka and the MG Ex-S/S Gundam. Both are Premium Bandai exclusives that rarely get restocked, and when supply dries up they climb to 3–4x retail. The HGUC Neo Zeong, with the biggest markup of all, already feels like a lost cause, but you still have a shot at catching a FAZZ or Ex-S restock.
