SSS-class revival hunter (Japanese title: Shishite Ikiru SSS-kyu Hunter), airing from January 2027, has released its second trailer. Eight additional cast members and the ending theme were announced alongside it, and a whole run of blanks that were still empty when the anime was first revealed got filled in at once.

The new names are Toshiki Masuda as the Flame Emperor, Megumi Han as the Black Witch, Sayaka Kinoshita as the Holy Knight, Risa Shimizu as the Count, Makoto Furukawa as the Viper, Natsumi Fujiwara as the Inquisitor, Yuka Iguchi as the Alchemy Minister and Shunsuke Sakuno as the Sword Saint — eight in total.

And the ending theme is THE SPELLBOUND × BOOM BOOM SATELLITES. My hands actually stopped for a second when I saw that billing. The simple fact that the BOOM BOOM SATELLITES name is going on an anime’s ED credit says a lot about where this show is aiming.

This article lays out the additional cast, the ending theme and how the trailer rolled out, limited to what the official announcements confirm. The broadcast slot and where things currently stand on streaming are covered at the end.

Who are the eight additional cast members?

Eight additional cast members were announced alongside the second trailer. The Flame Emperor, the Black Witch, the Holy Knight, the Count, the Viper, the Inquisitor, the Alchemy Minister and the Sword Saint — the characters who carry the series’ balance of power all got filled in together.

Character Voice actor
Flame Emperor Toshiki Masuda
Black Witch Megumi Han
Holy Knight Sayaka Kinoshita
Count Risa Shimizu
Viper Makoto Furukawa
Inquisitor Natsumi Fujiwara
Alchemy Minister Yuka Iguchi
Sword Saint Shunsuke Sakuno

The center of gravity in this casting is obvious. Toshiki Masuda, Makoto Furukawa, Yuka Iguchi, Megumi Han — performers who can carry a lead role — are all lined up on the side of the characters who hold titles. This is a series built around Kim Konja, played by lead actor Takeo Otsuka, taking on opponents who outclass him one after another, so the whole thing collapses if the enemies and the upper tier sound lightweight. I read this cast list as a decision to put the budget exactly there.

Picking Shunsuke Sakuno for the Sword Saint works too. Slotting in a single veteran adds another ring of age to the world. Think about the weight of his voice next to Satoshi Hino, already announced as the Sword Emperor, and the acoustic design here looks very deliberate.

Who is handling the ending theme?

The ending theme is handled by THE SPELLBOUND × BOOM BOOM SATELLITES. The song title and the track itself are to be revealed at a later date, and as of October 2026 the title has had no official announcement.

THE SPELLBOUND is a unit made up of Koji Nakamura and Yusuke Kobayashi, and BOOM BOOM SATELLITES is the unit of Michiyuki Kawashima and Masayuki Nakano. Billing both names together like this is unusual for an anime tie-up. As an ED to run at the close of a dark fantasy, the goal was probably heaviness and a floating quality at the same time.

What I’m curious about is the running time. This kind of sound is the type that pulls you into its world through the intro, and a 90-second ED slot could shave off exactly what makes it good. I want to see how that gets handled when the title and the track arrive.

Where did the second trailer premiere?

The second trailer premiered as a Crunchyroll-hosted early screening at New York Comic Con. Running the footage at an overseas event at the same time as the domestic announcement makes this a promotion built with streaming in mind.

Leading overseas is a tactic you see plenty of these days, but in this case the original’s readership already sits close to how overseas web novels and web comics circulate. Putting the trailer out through Crunchyroll’s slot to match that is simply the logical move.

As for domestic streaming platforms, as of October 2026 there has been no official announcement. The second trailer did get its early screening in a Crunchyroll-hosted slot, so the direction of the overseas rollout is easy enough to read, but I’ll hold off on guessing at the Japanese streaming lineup.

Final Thoughts: What the Second Trailer Confirmed

Three things are confirmed by this announcement. The eight additional cast members (Flame Emperor = Toshiki Masuda, Black Witch = Megumi Han, Holy Knight = Sayaka Kinoshita, Count = Risa Shimizu, Viper = Makoto Furukawa, Inquisitor = Natsumi Fujiwara, Alchemy Minister = Yuka Iguchi, Sword Saint = Shunsuke Sakuno), the ending theme by THE SPELLBOUND × BOOM BOOM SATELLITES, and the second trailer’s early screening at New York Comic Con.

The series airs from January 2027 on Fuji TV +Ultra and other channels. The ED song title, the opening theme and the Japanese streaming platforms all have no official announcement as of October 2026.

SPOTGEEKS VERDICT

Nearly a year after the anime was announced, a project that had gone quiet moved all at once. Lining up Toshiki Masuda, Makoto Furukawa, Yuka Iguchi and Megumi Han across the titled upper tier, and putting Shunsuke Sakuno in as the Sword Saint, answers the structure of a story that stacks fights against stronger opponents head-on. The ending theme pick doesn’t retreat into a safe anison slot either.

The blanks left are the song title, the OP, and the domestic streaming platforms. All of it gets filled in before January 2027.
