Enshrouded, the open-world survival crafting RPG known in Japan as Enshrouded: Kingdom of the Shroud, hits version 1.0 on PC (Steam) and PS5 simultaneously at 12:00 a.m. Japan time on Friday, October 16, 2026. An Xbox version is slated for spring 2027. It marks a graduation from the Steam Early Access run that began on January 24, 2024, two years and nine months ago.
You play as one of the Flameborn, a people on the brink of extinction, exploring a kingdom smothered by the deadly fog known as the Shroud, gathering materials, raising bases, and rebuilding the realm. It supports multiplayer for up to 16 players and can also be played solo.
This article covers the launch date and time, the price, what changes in the full release, whether your Early Access saves carry over, and the state of crossplay, so you know what you are walking into at midnight on October 16.
Let’s start with the dates and platforms.
When does Enshrouded hit 1.0, and does the PS5 version launch at the same time?
Version 1.0 releases on Steam and PS5 at the same moment, 12:00 a.m. Japan time on Friday, October 16, 2026. Outside Japan that falls on October 15. The Xbox version is scheduled for spring 2027, according to GameSpark.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Full release | Friday, October 16, 2026, 12:00 a.m. (Japan time) |
| Platforms | PC (Steam) and PS5. Xbox version planned for spring 2027 |
| Genre | Open-world survival crafting RPG |
| Players | Solo up to 16-player online co-op |
| Developer & Publisher | Keen Games |
| Early Access launch | January 24, 2024 |
Early Access ran for two years and nine months. That is on the long side for a survival crafting game, and the building systems and biomes have piled up accordingly. The PS5 version joins at 1.0 and never went through Early Access at all.
How much does it cost? The Steam version is 4,840 yen, with a hike coming at 1.0
The Steam version costs 4,840 yen (about US$32, tax included) as of October 15. Dollar figures are converted at 153 yen to US$1 and are for reference only. According to GameSpark, the price is set to rise to 39.99 euros (about 5,200 yen, or roughly US$34) alongside the full release, which effectively makes the Early Access period a discount window.
There is no yen price for the PS5 version. As of October 2026 it is not listed on the Japanese PlayStation Store and there has been no official announcement. Expect it to surface right before launch.
| Platform | Price (as of October 15, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Steam | 4,840 yen (about US$32, tax included). Rising to the equivalent of 39.99 euros at 1.0 |
| PS5 | Yen price not yet announced |
| Xbox | Due spring 2027, price not yet announced |
If you want in before the increase, October 15 is your deadline. Steam’s Japanese support covers interface and subtitles, with no Japanese voice track. User reviews have climbed from Mostly Positive overall to Very Positive recently, a sign that the back half of Early Access landed well.
What does version 1.0 add? New biomes and a level cap of 50
GameSpark reports that Keen Games had teased a new biome, a circuitry system, and a higher level cap for the full release. Preview information compiled by overseas guide outlets says the new biome is built from floating islands and lava-streaked ruins, that a grappling hook and roughly 35 new enemy types join the roster, and that the level cap moves to 50 with gear levels reaching 55.
The main story is also said to reach its conclusion in 1.0. Early Access never shipped an ending, so the full release is the first time the complete map of Embervale and its finale will exist together.
| Announced or Reported Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| New biome | An endgame region made up of floating islands and lava ruins (overseas reports) |
| Level cap | Raised to 50, with gear up to 55 (overseas reports) |
| Circuitry system | Logic tools for wiring contraptions into bases and dungeons (teased by Keen Games) |
| Magic | New spells for wizards and a rework of magic builds (overseas reports) |
| Story | The main campaign concludes in 1.0 (overseas reports) |
Of everything in that table, only three items can be confirmed in Keen Games’ own announcements: the new biome, the circuitry system, and the higher level cap. The finer numbers will be locked down in the 1.0 patch notes. A way to share bases built with the circuitry system with other players has also been teased, and that is likely the headline feature for the builder crowd.
Do Early Access saves carry over? What about crossplay?
GameSpark reports that Early Access save data carries over to the full release. Knowing that a base you spent two years and nine months building will not evaporate is the single biggest relief for anyone who has stuck with it.
Cross-platform play, on the other hand, is not supported as of the full release. It is said to be planned but not promised, so for now playing in the same world as your Steam or PS5 friends means everyone has to be on the same platform.
In a game that puts 16 people on one server, not being able to cross platforms stings. If you are coming in on PS5, check what your crew is playing on before you buy.

Final Thoughts: the Enshrouded 1.0 release date and price
Enshrouded version 1.0 launches on Steam and PS5 simultaneously at 12:00 a.m. Japan time on Friday, October 16, 2026, with the Xbox version due in spring 2027. The Steam version is 4,840 yen as of October 15, and the price is set to climb to the equivalent of 39.99 euros alongside the full release. The PS5 yen price has not been announced. It supports multiplayer for up to 16 players, Early Access saves carry over, and crossplay is not supported at launch.
After two years and nine months in Early Access, both the building and the story finally arrive in finished form. As a game about rebuilding a kingdom on a 16-player server, this is the easiest moment it will ever have to pull a crowd together. There is no crossplay, so sort out what platform your friends are on first.
Buy before the hike and October 15 is your window. Once the clock hits midnight, into the fog.
