Rockstar Games released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on October 15, 2026. The game arrives on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, priced at 9,800 yen (about US$64, converted at 153 yen to the dollar) for the Standard Edition and 12,280 yen (about US$80) for the Ultimate Edition, both tax included. Every frame of the trailer was captured in-game on PS5.
The setting is Vice City, in the state of Leonida, modeled on Florida. Protagonists Jason and Lucia blow a job that was supposed to be easy money, and that single failure drags them into a criminal conspiracy that spans the whole state. The trailer is scored to Justice’s new track Flower in a Hurricane, which appears on the official soundtrack Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album.
This article lays out what the launch trailer shows, how the two editions differ, what the preorder bonus includes, and where all of it sits next to the 26-minute video Rockstar put out in August. One month to launch, so consider this your final cram session.
Let’s start with what is in the trailer.
What does the launch trailer show? Leonida as it looks running on PS5
The launch trailer is built around the violence and conspiracy breaking out across Leonida, and all of it is PS5 in-game footage. Rockstar Games says so explicitly: there is no pre-rendered material in the cut.
According to Famitsu, the footage includes a shot of what looks like an electronic monitoring device on Lucia’s ankle, a sequence with military special forces, and a scene of gunfire from a helicopter. Where the 26-minute-plus Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, released on August 28, existed to show how the game plays, this one is a short piece that sets up the story and sells the mood of the world.
| Video | Released | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Launch trailer | October 15, 2026 | Violence and conspiracy in Leonida. Entirely PS5 in-game footage |
| An Extended Look | August 28, 2026 | A gameplay walkthrough running more than 26 minutes |
Shipping nothing but in-game footage this close to release is a bold stance for a blockbuster. How the video looks is how the product looks, which means everything visible here is what will be running in your hands on November 19.
When does GTA 6 launch and what does it cost? November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, in two editions
The release date is November 19, 2026, and the platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Standard Edition costs 9,800 yen and the Ultimate Edition 12,280 yen, tax included, with Japanese pricing published on the PS Store and elsewhere when preorders opened on June 25, 2026.
| Edition | Price (tax included) | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | 9,800 yen (about US$64) | Base game |
| Ultimate Edition | 12,280 yen (about US$80) | Base game plus a set of exclusive items spread across the whole of Jason and Lucia’s story |
What the Ultimate Edition adds is described on the official site as a collection of exclusive items woven into every side of the story. Reports say the vehicles, weapons and apparel turn up as you clear chapters, but the official site does not publish a list of the individual items.
The preorder bonus is the same for both editions: the Vintage Vice City Pack, billed as a look back at the era when the neon burned brightest. A PC version has not been announced, and as of October 2026 there is no official word on one.
Where is GTA 6 set and who do you play? Vice City in Leonida, with Jason and Lucia
The game is set in Leonida, a fictional state modeled on Florida whose central city is Vice City. There are two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, and the official site introduces them as a pair who fail at a simple job and wind up on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America.
August’s long video laid out the system for switching between the two leads and the criminal profile elements. This trailer is about the scale of the conspiracy they get pulled into, with a criminal structure spanning the entire state forming the spine of the story.
The device on Lucia’s ankle reads as a prop for probation or electronic monitoring. Rockstar showing a protagonist’s situation through that kind of detail before launch is series tradition, and I am the type who rewinds a one-second cut like that over and over.
Who is handling the soundtrack? A Justice score and the new track Flower in a Hurricane
The original score is the work of French electronic duo Justice. Flower in a Hurricane, the new track playing in the launch trailer, features Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and it appears on the official album Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album.
The album is open for pre-saves across music streaming services, and vinyl and CD preorders are up as well. The GTA series is famous for the way each radio station picks its tracks, but this time Justice sits at the center of the score itself. This is music built to be listened to outside the game, no question.

In summary: GTA 6 lands November 19 in two editions, at 9,800 yen and 12,280 yen
The Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer went live on October 15, 2026. The release date is November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Standard Edition is 9,800 yen and the Ultimate Edition is 12,280 yen, tax included, and both come with the Vintage Vice City Pack as a preorder bonus. Every frame of the trailer was captured in-game on PS5, and the music is Justice’s new track Flower in a Hurricane. The setting is Vice City in Leonida, and the protagonists are Jason and Lucia.
Putting out a trailer that is pure in-game footage a month before release is proof Rockstar is confident in how the thing looks. August’s 26-minute video showed the systems; this one shows only the door into the story. There is not a wasted beat in how the information is being rolled out. No PC version is a shame, but 9,800 yen for the PS5 release is restrained for a game this big, and I will give them credit for that.
November 19. Now I have a reason to clock out early.
