RG Star GaoGaiGar opened for pre-orders at Premium Bandai’s Hobby Online Shop at 12:00 on October 16, 2026. It’s priced at $72 (tax included), with shipping scheduled for February 2027. This is the space-spec version of The King of Braves GaoGaiGar — Star GaoGaiGar, the form created by combining with Stealth Gao II — rendered in RG scale with a helping of newly tooled parts.
RG GaoGaiGar, released at general retail in 2022, was a landmark kit that pulled off the transformation and combination of GaiGar and three Gao Machines at RG levels of precision. Four years later, Stealth Gao II — with its Ul-Tech Engines and Phantom Rings mounted at the wingtips — is finally arriving at the same standard. For anyone who’s spent that whole time waiting on Final Fusion approval, those four years have felt long.
This article covers the price and pre-order conditions, what’s actually newly tooled, the gimmicks you can recreate, how it differs from the retail RG GaoGaiGar, and the RG Goldymarg reissue going up alongside it. There’s no announced pre-order deadline as of October 2026, so let’s get that out of the way up front too.
Let’s start with the pre-order terms.

How much is RG Star GaoGaiGar? Pre-order opening and shipping window
The price is $72 (tax included), and it’s exclusive to Premium Bandai’s Hobby Online Shop. Pre-orders opened at 12:00 on October 16, 2026, with shipping scheduled for February 2027. Purchases earn 110 points.

As of October 2026, no pre-order deadline is stated on the product page or in any outlet’s coverage. Premium Bandai pre-order items sometimes close as soon as the prepared allocation is met, so treating the lack of a deadline as license to sit on it is risky. If you want one, order now and wait out the shipping month.
What’s newly tooled? The Ul-Tech Engine and Phantom Ring
Stealth Gao II is the centerpiece of the new tooling. The Ul-Tech Engines and Phantom Rings mounted at both wingtips have been newly cut, with the color separation handled in molded plastic. The GGG mark is reproduced with a clear green part.
| Part | Specification |
|---|---|
| Stealth Gao II | Rendered with newly tooled parts. Color separation in molded plastic |
| Ul-Tech Engine | Newly tooled at the wingtips. Interior detailed down to the fine points |
| Ul-Tech Engine cover | Two types included. Swap to match the scene being recreated |
| Phantom Ring | Newly tooled. Removable, and mounts on the forearm to recreate the launch state |
| GGG mark | Reproduced in clear green |
| Hand parts | Newly tooled hand parts included |
Tooling the interior of the Ul-Tech Engine is RG’s “show the guts” design philosophy in its purest form. The two cover options are presumably there so you can stage both the closed cruising configuration and the opened, output-boosted state. The product description says nothing more specific than “to match the scene being recreated,” so which exact moments are covered will have to wait for the kit in hand. As someone who paints everything, I’ll say this: molded-plastic color separation pays off most on large surfaces like wings, where weld lines are less likely to show, and getting the GGG mark in clear green means one less masking job. Honestly grateful for that one.
What gimmicks can you recreate? From transformation and combination to Protect Wall
The combination gimmick between GaiGar and Stealth Gao II can be recreated exactly as it plays out on screen. The Phantom Ring mounts on the forearm for the launch state, and fitting the Wall Ring lets you build a Protect Wall pose. The Gatling Driver’s muzzle rotates and pivots on an axis, so you can give it some attitude.
- The combination gimmick between GaiGar and Stealth Gao II
- Removable Phantom Ring, plus the forearm-mounted launch state
- Protect Wall posing via the Wall Ring attachment
- Rotating and axis articulation at the Gatling Driver’s muzzle
- Swappable Ul-Tech Engine covers, two types
What the product description advertises is “transformation and combination coexisting with extensive action performance” — the exact same phrasing the 2022 RG GaoGaiGar used. It’s fair to assume the articulation of that kit, which let you pose individual fingers while keeping the full combination mechanism intact, is the foundation here too. That said, how Drill Gao and Liner Gao are handled, and the total height once combined, aren’t in the product description, so as of October 2026 we don’t know.
How does it differ from the retail RG GaoGaiGar?
The biggest difference is that Stealth Gao becomes Stealth Gao II, bringing the Ul-Tech Engine and Phantom Ring with it. The sales channel also shifts from general retail to Premium Bandai exclusive, and the price goes from $43 to $72.
| Item | RG GaoGaiGar | RG Star GaoGaiGar |
|---|---|---|
| Availability | General retail | Premium Bandai exclusive |
| Release | September 17, 2022 | Shipping scheduled for February 2027 |
| Price | $43 (tax included) | $72 (tax included) |
| Gao Machine it combines with | Stealth Gao | Stealth Gao II (newly tooled) |
| Signature equipment | — | Ul-Tech Engine, Phantom Ring, Wall Ring |
| Included weapon | — | Gatling Driver |
The gap is $29. Framed as the cost of a newly tooled Stealth Gao II plus the Gatling Driver, Wall Ring, and extra hand parts, that’s not out of line with what Premium Bandai exclusives usually run. The product description only says “with newly tooled parts,” and never spells out whether the GaiGar body, Drill Gao, and Liner Gao are shared with the retail version. If you already own RG GaoGaiGar, how much of the Gao Machine side carries over determines whether a second kit is worth it, so this is the detail to watch for in follow-up news.
RG GaoGaiGar hit general retail on September 17, 2022, with a recommended age of 15 and up. Star GaoGaiGar’s age rating isn’t listed in the product description, but since it’s a same-standard kit with a combination mechanism, it’s natural to expect the same level. That’s an assumption on my part, so check the page when you order.
What about the RG Goldymarg reissue going up at the same time?
RG Goldymarg opened for reissue pre-orders on that same October 16. Orders started at 11:00, the price is $32 (tax included), and shipping is scheduled for February 2027 — the same month as Star GaoGaiGar.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Product name | RG Goldymarg (reissue) |
| Price | $32 (tax included) |
| Pre-orders open | October 16, 2026, 11:00 |
| Shipping | Scheduled for February 2027 |
| Modes | Transforms into three modes: robot, tank, and Marg Hand |
| Included accessories | Action Base (clear color), Realistic Decal, full effect parts set |
Put Goldymarg into Marg Hand mode and pair it with the separately sold RG GaoGaiGar, and you can stage Hammer Hell and Heaven. On pairing it with Star GaoGaiGar, though, even Dengeki Hobby Web’s coverage phrases it as “with the separately sold RG GaoGaiGar,” and compatibility with Star GaoGaiGar isn’t stated anywhere as of October 2026. If the arm standard is the same it should attach, but that isn’t confirmed. Both kits come to $104 and land in the same February. At least that’s only one conversation with your wallet.

Summary: the key facts on RG Star GaoGaiGar
RG Star GaoGaiGar is exclusive to Premium Bandai’s Hobby Online Shop, with pre-orders opening at 12:00 on October 16, 2026, a price of $72 (tax included), and shipping scheduled for February 2027. Stealth Gao II is rendered with newly tooled parts, reproducing the Ul-Tech Engine and Phantom Ring, with the GGG mark in clear green. You can build the Phantom Ring launch state, Protect Wall, and poses using the Gatling Driver’s articulation. The gap over the retail RG GaoGaiGar ($43) is $29, and there’s no announced pre-order deadline as of October 2026. RG Goldymarg is being reissued alongside it at $32, shipping that same February 2027.
Bandai took RG GaoGaiGar’s combination and articulation as the foundation and dropped a newly tooled Stealth Gao II on top. If you’ve been waiting for the space-spec version, there is no alternative on the market. The open questions are how much of the Gao Machine side is shared and the total height once combined, both still unpublished — if you’re torn on a second kit, wait for that follow-up news.
No deadline has been announced. But that’s exactly why this is an order you want to approve now.
